Showcase events - Which ones are JOKES

If a TD put the no name independent teams at the so called main fields and put the known talented teams in the back woods, the college coach's would go to the back woods to watch. College coach's know what teams have talent and if you are a so called independent team with a stud good luck keeping her long. Parents will know where to take her to be looked at.

Any tournament sponsor has the right to put their teams in the prime times. If they are sponsoring the tournament. That is not the point I'm trying to make here and you know it. The point is if Glory gives other organizations such as the bat busters or elite or teams from the Houston Ronald McDonald tournament preferential treatment on scheduling, because they know they will get the same consideration from those college look tournaments. Then the independent teams get left out of the prime time, locations and times for the most part.

I fully understand how the recruiting process works. Having done that for a few years as a coach. For new coach, who is an independent becomes obvious very quickly that if he's going to get his girls exposed college coaches. He's going to have to work twice as hard as the big boys to get his players seen. If he has girls who are uncommitted to a particular college then contacting the coach of a particular college doesn't work.

Those girls get left out in the cold, with limited opportunity to be seen if they're in a satellite field. For the most part, placing the profiles in the college coaches area doesn't do a whole lot of girls any good, because the profiles get limited exposure to college coaches. Most of them don't even get viewed by college coaches at these events. None of the girls feel comfortable enough to go to college coaching talk. And many parents don't feel comfortable talking with them.

So the exposure field is not even and the independent teams get left out of the exposure process for the majority of their games. The parents then become disappointed with coach, because Little Susie didn't get recruited. The coach, no matter how hard he tries understands the deck is stacked against him. So he folds his team and takes his daughter to one of the elite three. I've seen this many many times, and its sad, because many girls are falling through the cracks. Many of whom could have had their education, fully or partially funded having a proper exposure to college coaches.

This is the underbelly of this process that no one ever talks about. Now that D-bat has entered the picture is only a matter of time before they start their college look tournaments. Then even more independents are going to get left out, and more girls will get left behind in the exposure process.

If that's the case, there's no one to blame but their parents. Showcases are only one way
(and perhaps not the best way) to showcase your DD.

Not all of these girls have supporting parents Joe. But they still want a college education.

Then they better get busy promoting themselves....and stop rolling the dice at a showcase event.

Joe how many girls you know 15-17 that are going to take that and run with it. Lets be at least realistic in this conversation.

Buildit...if we're talking about the same 15-17 year olds who have developed their skills enough to qualify for a college scholarship, why wouldn't they 'finish the game' and take their own destiny in their own hands??? All I'm saying is...showing up at a showcase and thinking your going to get "discovered" is wishful thinking.

Game times and fields will only get your so far. The best schools find the best talent regardless of where they are playing. Shelton doesn't need to rig his own schedule to get his kids signed Div. I. With a few exceptions, they are the best of the best. Contrary to the sales job by the Glory faithful, the rest of the Glory teams don't get their kids signed Div. I with any more success than numerous other teams in North Texas despite their prime times in area showcases.

The Ft. Worth Batbusters and Texas Elite have been rigging their own schedules for years and its certainly hasn't helped them. Graves' and Bancroft's teams haven't been well respected by the Big XII, SEC, WAC, Conference USA, or Southland for several years. Go look to see how many players on either of these programs have signed to play in any of these conferences recently.
