In fact sir, you have just defamed these very people. In law, defamation–also called calumny, libel , slander (for spoken words), and vilification(for written or otherwise published words) –is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image. Your are correct Mr. Judgeand Jury. I should not have painted every coach with such a broad stroke. I am not an expert. I am just a dad who has been carrying his daughter around to 2 to 3 tournaments a month since she was 7 and has watched a lot of softball over the last 6 years. My whole point was the clock is part of the game, and we have been on the other side of it many times and been pretty pissed off about it, but if we would have done our job earlier in the game it would not have mattered! I was suprised by the reaction. I have no other motive or anything against the DBAT Folks. As a matter of fact I have been impressed with all of their teams that I have seen on the field so far. Looking back now I wish I would not even got on here. I should went straight to Mark with my account. I saw the thread and saw a lot of people post who were not there and wanted to get my side out since I was there.

Mr. Mulvany,
I appreciate how you handled the situation, the note to our coach, and the fact that you got on here knowing the kind of abuse you were going to take! I just hate that this is taking away from the fact that this was a solid, well played game by two teams.

You folks down below... You actually got me interested in this bash board... I will say it once more.. If the glove dont fit, you must acquit!!!

This is great. I now know what it feels like to be director of programming for CNN. It is an awesome power to be able to deliberately illicit a pre-determined response from the masses.

First, to the Brett Favre of HB, I am well aware of your given name. In fact, you and I have met before at Nationals. Never mind your race or creed, you have a lot to be proud of in the softball arena. This is not meant to convey that you do not have other areas of your life for which you are proud.

As a somewhat educated man, do all of you really believe I did not carefully consider the ramifications of my usage of the phrase whitebread crackers? It was done solely for the purpose of producing a pre-determined response, which all of you sheep fulfilled. In all honesty, the proper phrase I was going to use was "pinche gringos."

To set the record straight, I, too, do not condone, approve or otherwise support the alleged actions of the coach in question. I was not there so I cannot comment one way or the other about the alleged incident. I simply was trying to provide a possible reason as to why someone would act with such classlessness.

Finally, to you, Mr. Goggles, you are Rod Tidwell to my Jerry Maguire. You are just too predictable. Obviously, I hit a nerve with you and you responded with venom and malice as opposed to a rebuttal of facts. Please revisit my original post with a clear heart and an open mind. Yes, there may have been some backhanded compliments, but in the end, they are compliments nonetheless. I even ended my post by stating I believe you guys will be there in the end next summer. I just find it very amusing to watch all of these DBat parents with a chip on their shoulder from all of their years of mediocrity, finally getting their day in the sun and then respond with "little man syndrome."

For the record, I never called your team a bunch of trophy hunting daddy-ballers that do not play up. I simply stated the fact that most on your roster have limited experience in a consistent winning environment. As a NATIONAL team, you are expected to compete at the higher levels of competition. It just goes with the territory. So to come on here and beat your chest about playing up in 16U makes you look like you do not have much experience competing at the highest level.

In regards to the crowning of national champs, you are absolutely correct in stating nationals are not until July and that you have to qualify first. Honestly, I was a little surprised you were aware of the protocols for USA/ASA "A" nationals as I believe you do not have much experience with this tournament.

Next, once again, I never said "these 13 year old girls are really stinkin it up right now ain't they?" Unfortunately, it appears I really struck a nerve on this one. I simply stated facts: 1) about 1/2 of this team came from Mr. Wines tutelage; 2) several of the girls have played for many different teams over the past years (there is a reason why the Fusion and Diamonds have been so good for so long, they have consistency in their rosters); and 3) some of the girls have been associated with Fusion in the past and no longer on their roster (you are the one that called them Fusion rejects, not I; although based on your own comment I cant help but invoke one of the greatest quotes of all time from one of the greatest sociological movies within the last century. I think we all know who I am referring to; yes that's right the one and only Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl and her infamous comment about western shoeware.

Lastly, my dear Watson, I am not, never have been, nor ever will be associated with the Diamonds. You see, Sherlock, my DD is a few years older than yours. However, I do know of Mr. Travers and his team. We have seen them for many years at various tournaments. It seems for some odd reason, they have been playing up since they were in 10U and not just here in the past 2 months. I only brought up the Diamonds because you were the one that made the bold claim that it was only your team and Fusion to be reckoned with this year.

Once again, neither I or my DD for that matter, apologize for the long read.

First in regards to the coach of the team in question. I know this man and he is a proud male Latino. As a fellow Latino, what all of you don't understand is the power of pride and machismo in the Spanish heritage and culture. Unlike so many other minorities, I am not utilizing this as a "race card, therefore get out of jail free card," but simply making all of you whitebread crackers out there aware of extenuating circumstances.

I bet both judge and Lupe have more testosterone than the average Joe (no pun intended)! I bet they have big hairy chests.....
It's my opinion....and that's all that matters!!

First, thank you so much Judge for informing everyone about Latino heritage and culture. It is a rare American indeed who has ever seen anything in the media about Latinos much less ever actually encountered one. I did know someone once who said he had a distant relative who had a Latino male acquaintance, but I didn't believe him. Not in this country.

Second, I'd love to see Osama's lawyer explain how his "heritage and culture" should be viewed as "extenuating circumstances" in a court of law. That would surely cause the number of life sentences to be reduced just as Latinos routinely get reduced sentences because of their "pride and machismo." Everyone knows Latino gang members get lighter sentences than white gang members because the white guys have less "pride and machismo." No doubt extenuating circumstances play a role in some cases. I'm no lawyer, but if I'm on the jury, this coaches behavior doesn't come close to qualifying as such.

If that is his defense, then what does that say about the fitness of male Latinos to coach children? What response should reasonably be expected if a child said something that the coach felt injured his great "pride and machismo?" Child beating but with extenuating circumstances?

Alas, Judge Judy wannabe jumps over everyone to the head of the HB idiot class. No small feat, though I suspect it was effortless.

How stupid do you have to be to think people won't notice how stupid you are, particularly when you try to come off as something you clearly aren't. At least I expect that people will notice.

Take one more swig.......pass out...........sleep it off...........wake up..........log on................change screen name again.............repeat.

I only brought up the Diamonds because you were the one that made the bold claim that it was only your team and Fusion to be reckoned with this year.

I said that, really?

I think he's saying that Lupe has no class because he's Latino. :o

I think sleeping in a tent at nationals is the ultimate display of machismo. If Lupe ever gets there, he should do that.

JudgenJury -- the correct grammar is "pinches gringos", not pinche gringos.

If you're going to swear in Spanish, get it right!

Which reminds me of a time (more than 30 years ago now) my dear mother, god rest her sole now, encountered a driver in Mexico City coming right at her on a one-way bridge between Las Lomas and Tecamachalco. The oncoming car stopped, and my mother got out of the car, and yelled "Idioto!", and not knowing spanish very well yet, didn't realize that isn't a word. (the word is "idiota"). Of course the intended insult sort of fell flat on the asphalt about twelve inches from her mouth, while my sister and I just cracked up laughing in the back seat.

Dear Mr. Squirrel:

Thank you for your intelligent, well-choreographed response. Your passion is demonstrative in your reply. It is refreshing to see someone take a stand for what they believe in. After all, if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything. I believe you let your passion cloud some of your thinking however. I never stated the rarity of knowledge that exists about the Latino heritage and culture. Living in Texas, everyone is uniquely familiar with Latinos. Personally, I do not believe everyone fully understands the heritage. Your reference to Osama is priceless, truly. I am quite certain the coach in question appreciates your implication of the similarities between his trial in a court of public opinion and Osama's trial in a court of law. Once again, I have no idea as to the validity of the alleged claims against this individual. Furthermore, I have no idea what his defense is, nor do I claim to know.

I do take exception with your comment about jumping to the head of the idiot class and comments about my stupidity. Nevertheless, I will light a candle for you tonight at mass and ask that you find that nut that you have so fervently been desiring all these years. Go in peace.

I would like to apologize to Mr. Tidwell. You are absolutely correct in pointing out that I misspoke when I unwittingly referenced Joboo's comment as your own. Thank you for clarifying this gross misrepresentation. In my defense, I get all of you DBat parents mixed up from time to time. Please accept my sincere apology. Also, please feel free to go through the rest of my comments and point out any other false statements I may have made about you or your team.

Give them hell Judgenjury. You should have also added executioner to your title. That ant pile you stepped in is the 50% of HB Posters in N. Tex that happen to be D-Bat parents.

The articulate debate between you and Blind Squirrel is priceless!
