Elite Showcase in Plano

by cmore » Mon Nov 02, 2009 10:27 am

Hello all, I'm from California and our team is coming out for the showcase this coming weekened in Plano. My question is......Is this a good college showcase? Is it well organized? Do the scouts show up? Our team and my DD has done their homework and written to the colleges and coaches that they are interested in. Any feedback or opinions would be appreciated.

If your DD wants to play in the Southwest (TX, OK, LA, NM, ARK) the trip will be worth your $$$. There will be some from KU, SEC also. JD of Elite has been around for a while and will have plenty of coaches in attendance. That, and this will be the last showcase this fall so many should be out to take one last look.

Cmore,

There is tons of info and hours of reading on this tournament. Way to much to put in one post. You can search with keywords Easton Elite, Plano, or Elite, on hey bucket and the info will pop up for you.

Joe, thanks for the info....My DD is an '11 and has gotten a lot of interest here and in Texas. I think she is leaning towards a Texas program. She has sent out a lot of recruiting letters to various schools there and they have responded that they are interested and will be taking a look. I am just hoping that this Showcase is organized and that the coach and scouts that wrote back will show.

If you can, can you tell us who has told your daughter that they will be there? This showcase director absolutely refuses to publish a legitimate list of schools that are confirmed to attend. The list he mailed out contains more than 300 names I think.

Anyone else able to confirm what colleges definitely will be coming?

I can tell you from conversations this week that many major D1s will be there. JD doesnt make them pre-register; the coaches just sign in when they show up. From our experience and I have been going to JD's fall events for 5 or 6 years now, there are always a lot of coaches in attendance. Alot of the coaches never pre-register at any event anyway because they do not want to be overwhelmed with all the extra last minute emails. You can expect some Big 12 and SEC coaches and a lot more. Also there are usually a lot of the NAIA, D2s and Jucos at this event also. But with the Fall Recruiting Window expanding alot of D1s are planning to attend this event.

No offense because I know you are part of the Elite organization. Your statement is just wrong. Ronald McDonald, Colorado Fireworks, Texas Glory, all provide a list of coaches who have confirmed in advance that they will attend. Bancroft guards the list of coaches who have actually shown up to the last showcase or two, and won't tell anyone. He just sends out the list of 300 schools that have ever shown up. Personally, I think his numbers are way, way down over the last two or three showcases and that's why he won't give out a list.

If anyone can start a list here, it would help.

I don't believe Tulsa Elite is part of JD's Texas Elite

Zig Ziglar once said “Are you a meaningful specific or a wandering generality?”. To put that into Softball & Recruiting terms. WANDERING GENERALITY - shows up at showcases hoping that one of the many coaches happen to catch one of their games and see their kids; MEANINGFUL SPECIFIC - does their due diligence in advance and knows exactly which coaches will attend which games and exactly who they want to see in what positions.

If coaches, kids and parents do their homework they will know exactly which coaches are going to be there to watch their kids. Don't depend on some list of coaches though. Even when there is a list, you should still email other coaches. I know most of the coaches who will be at our teams games in advance and exactly who they are coming to watch. I give a report to our other coaches so they know how to rotate the line-up.

Actually we are affiliated with JD but that has nothing to do with my answer. People who know me know that I dont sugar coat my responses; the facts are the facts. If this was a bad showcase to attend I would tell you no matter who runs it. We have had success at this event, even before the Fall Window opened up. That is why we are sending our younger uncommitted team down this weekend.

Team NJ, America's Finest, etc do not provide Coaches List in advance either. And these are by far 2 of the best we attend. Im not comparing this event to any other but we have had many kids recruited at this and other events.

Not sure which part of my statement was WRONG?
My statement included:
"I can tell you from conversations this week that many major D1s will be there." - TRUE
"JD doesnt make them pre-register; the coaches just sign in when they show up." - TRUE

These are some of the coaches I can remember seeing or talking to at our games at the October Event:
AUBURN
BAYLOR
TEXAS TECH
KANSAS
IOWA STATE
TULSA
SOUTHERN MISS
HOUSTON
ILLINOIS
WICHITA STATE
MISSOURI STATE
NORTH TEXAS
CENTRAL ARKANSAS
NORTHWESTERN STATE
UT ARLINGTON
TEXAS STATE
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE
OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
ST GREGORY'S
ARKANSAS TECH
EAST CENTRAL OK

In addition to many of those going to be there this weekend, there are at least 3 other Big 12 schools and at least 1 other Top 25 program that have confirmed with me.
