Boycott Sugarland

by Daniel71475 » Mon Nov 16, 2009 9:56 am

I think teams should stop playing in Sugarland untill the league or who ever is incharge of the park dose something about the break ins to cars. I know at least another 5 or 6 were broken in to this past Saturday. Every time we play out there you hear about all the cars broken into. I think any TD who host out there should have to bring in security or managers should boycott and not play there any more untill something is done about this.

Have to agree about Sugarland and BBUSA was almost as bad last year. We resorted to empting the car of anything valuable and leaving the windows down when we played at either. If there was something in the truck they wanted to reach in a grab it was less then the $500 window replacement.

This is just awful. Thanks for the info. We will NOT be attending any tournaments there. We are looking for places to play in the Spring and it is always nice to have this information up front. To me, that makes it unsafe to even send DD to the car to get something out of the trunk.

Southwest Houston.. They have 9 fields great concessions stands and setup, more warmup space then you can fill but the parking lot is about 1/4 mile form the park so.... and this is the problem.... When the Moms and Dads arrive at the park they spend 10 minutes stashing, purses, wallets, laptops, PSPs etc... the theives watch this and hit the cars quick and efficient... If people stopped leaving valuables in the cars there would be little issue. The TD's are not going to assign security because this would invoke a level of responsibility for the thefts if they occured on their watch. The best practice is to arrive at the park unload your gear and don"t spend 10 minutes hiding stuff under seats and blankets. If you're going to stash things have them stashed before you get there. They only hit cars with purses hidden under seats or wallets left in consoles. It's not a rash of 100 random cars with broken windows they only hit 5-6 and everyone losses a purse or wallet :?

To be honest it pretty much happens at all ballparks. Thieves know these places are full of out of town visitors. If they don't get you then you have to worry about the crooked teams that steal equipment.

Correct me if I'm wrong but every park I've been to, most teams set up camp near the parking lots. Are the fields really that far from the parking lot in Sugarland?

Really??? I've been playing out of Keller, North Richland Hills, Southlake and many other North Texas parks for a decade and don't have clue what the hell you're talking about. And for any of these crooked teams you speak of? Is yours one we have to worry about? Or do you work solo?

A few well placed Large Rat Traps under the seats ought to do the trick

hey buddy not here to argue with anyone :)
Don't know what world you live in but crime happens everywhere. I never stated you or your organization, I don't even know who you are, Joe.

If you feel like my post was attacking YOU, I apologize. I'm simply stating my opinion.
I work in law enforcement so maybe I do have a better clue of things. Not all crimes get reported in fact most don't.

It's very sad that there are some dishonest people out there but there are, even some people that travel with the teams!
If parks in North Texas are more crime free than other area than more power to you, ya'll got a great system with handling things.
