Best 12U Teams in NTX

Hey Justawatcher, is it a big shock that the 97 teams you mentioned win or placed in the past tourny against the 98's? Those are well coached and very solid 97/96 teams. But take the 98's out of that tournament in Mckinney and it proably doesn't make. I mean like I said before, its the trend for the top tier 98's to play up and play each other all while getting challenged by playing those tough older teams as well. My question is the 98's are playing up, why aren't those teams?

there are no 16U's to play, or at least no 16U teams to play, the 9th graders are playing HS ball. 16U/18U play doesn't even crank up until after the UIL season is over because there aren't any players. Most of the 96's playing club ball in March and April are 8th graders. I bet both glory's (and several others) would prefer to be playing 16U but there is no place to play, so its 14U or not at all.

Anyone know if 98 TPS is still together? We are having a huge 12A Invitational in Nashville and have tried contacting Jody with no luck. Thanks so much. Teams confirmed.

Well I know those girls and coach's at Aftershock and they only have 1 97 SS, and 1 96 Pitcher the rest are all 98's, they both help contribute to the sucess of the team but by know means are impacting the teams sucess.

Good people at Aftershock. More power to them. I hope they win a ton. But it is undeniable the difference that the 97 and 96 make on that team. The 96 pitcher throws heat and overpowers a lot of younger batters. If a 96 pitcher can't dominate 98's and 99's, then why is she even in the circle? She is stronger and older. I contend that she does make a difference. Wouldn't they be better served to play age pure and fail/succeed with a pure 98 team?

Oh to be a 12u parent again. Many '96s are only in the 8th grade. And as to your prayer for "age pure" teams, you're showing your naivety. In a year, you'll learn the only thing that really matters isn't your birth year. It's what is your graduation year. Enjoy the ride though. 12u can be the most fun you'll ever have.

Half 96's are eighth graders, half are ninth graders. Girls born after Jan 1, but before the school cut off can be at a disadvantage to the older girls in their graduating class. See it all the time with the September born 97's vs. the July born 98's. By their sophomore year, I imagine it evens out. I agree that you will have two different birth years in a graduating class, but a 96 can still be a freshman. That is a world away from a sixth or seventh grade 98. Wouldn't you agree?

Not really sure the point of your post, but I suppose . . . yes? . . . which is why you'll find out soon enough to forget about the date of birth and focus on the graduation year. . . . 7th and 8th graders on same team, 6th and 7th graders, etc., etc. Once you get to high school, it depends on your talent level, physical size, maturity level, etc. . . . But way too many freshmen and sophomores try to play 18u Gold, even if it's a mediocre 18u team, when they should stay down on a top 16u team, or even a 14u team in the case of many, many freshmen.

OK. I don't understand the point of YOUR post. WE were talking about BEST 12U TEAMS in NTX. Thanks for calling us naive 12U parents. Mixed teams with older girls have a competitive advantage over age pure younger teams.

96s cannot play 12U so either they don't have any 96s or they are cheating. I doubt that team is cheating so maybe the kid is a 97? Or are they just playing her when they play 14U? Either way how's that working out for them?
