FACE MASK

by D31st » Tue Nov 24, 2009 10:36 am

TD's, how much longer before face masks are required for corner infielders and pitch? Make it a prerequisite for tourneys before we sign up. Just saw another close call where a pitcher should of had her face exploded. She was ok, it just glanced off her mask. It still landed her on her tail. STFU about how they should just be faster with their reaction times. Lets be proactive on this. The girls are hitting the ball with enormous velocities. Lets protect em if their parents wont. Thoughts?

TD's,

Please don't require my kids to where a face mask, especially my F3. I do not want them to re-adjust to an unobstructed view or a false sense of security. You see, they all start college in 1-4 years and will not wear a mask anymore.

Sincerely,

Next thing you know, my F6 will be standing on the fringe with a freakin mask on while I'm explaining to a college coach why she's the best player for his/her team. Whatever.

Disclaimer: if I was a pitchers parent, my kid would probably have one on.

let parents be parents. I doubt TD's will require that unless there insurance carrier tells to put that as some kind of requirment.

Go ahead and do TD's. When my kid gets hurt wearing the mask that you require (That no other fastpitch authority requires) I will sue you azzzz and whatever league allowed it to be mandatory.

Same goes with TD hiring security for the p-lot. Your making yourself responsible, be sure to include a disclaimer if you do it.

Don't think they will ever make it mandatory, but I could be wrong. I could see it happening age dependent before anything else. Maybe 10U and 12U, then determined by parents/DD after that??? Certainly not the TD's call though.

Who's going to sue your dumb azzz, when you daughter is standing there holding all her teeth in one hand and trying to stop the blood from her shattered nose in the other?

What? I have no agenda, just an opinion. My opinion on this subject is that mask decisions should be left to the parents and kids, not mandated.

And what is your opinion on the subject and does it differ for age groups?

I have a pitcher for a daughter and I believe it is just like a motorcycle helmet issue.some were it and some dont! but that is there choice. right or wrong there choice.I as well as 99.9% of pitcher dad know the outcome.
