I personally radar gunned this girl last year in Midland in two games, and she never touched 60 mph. Consistently threw between 56-58 mph. She is a a phenom for a 12u (control, spin, speed, maturity, etc.) and may well be able to hit 61 mph in a controlled environment during pitching practice, but she didn't do it on the dirt. Has anyone actually radar gunned her this spring rather than just guestimating?

Who saw "her"?

Texas Peppers have 2 Pitchers both stay between 57-59 mph.

Both - when they are on their game - can hit 60 -61 mph.

PS - I could not care less if anyone believes me. We have won and lost games when they were were "on" or "off". Heck - you can never know what you are going to get sometimes... but they do give their best each time they step out onto the mound.

And no - my daughter is not one of these pitchers - she THINKS she can pitch - tried to pitch..... she cant! Don't tell her I said that!

Hope to see you guys out at the ball park soon.
When asked how many times she hit Tiger with the golf club, she responded, "I'm not sure...put me down for an 8!

We had a radar gun and another coach had one and we both separately clocked her at 60 and 61 mph in Midland. The girl on the Peppers is a great pitcher with lots of velocity and we are not from south Texas.

Are the '94 Peppers and SK Tazers really the top two in Houston? How do the Diamond Dusters, Texas Cyclones, Texas Showdown, '93 Texas Storm, GT Shockers, Texas Hawks (some people tell me their pitcher brings it over 60 mph), etc. compare to the teams on this list. What happened to the Texas Trouble and South Texas Sting? There has to be more than these two.

I dont know what other peoples experience is with this but you see your kid throw in practice, she hits a speed thats good for her age. She gets into a game, the game gets intense, it looks like the speed goes up. I have seen my kid throw what I guess is in the 53-56 area - then something happens and I can see the speed increase, someone gets a gun out and says she is hitting some pretty strong speed, but its not the average - its in that situation.

As everyone says, once a kid gets up to a competitive speed, if she doesnt have off speed and movement, her speed is one part of the formula that sends that ball over the fence.

There are many good teams here in Houston with strong pitching, just a good as the Peppers on any given day, but the Peppers seem to be more consistent than most. There are a few teams (Hawks,Triple Threat, Jets 94 to name a few) that are somewhat new (only together a year or less) that are very strong but are still working on their kinks that could still compete with the very best on any given day. I say it's still somewhat early to determine the best of the best. You play in any tournament with any of the teams listed in these threads and you will be sure to get great competition, period. It just depends on who brought their best game that day as to who would come out on top! JMO

Fusion (Sidwell) looks to be getting stronger and stronger. This team is gonna make some noise this year. There top two pitchers can bring it and they have another two others that can mix things up.

My DD plays for the South Texas Sting due to some girls moving around we had to pick up some 16U girls to continue to play most of the team is still 14U.My DD is one of the three pitchers on the team and they all pitch between 55-60 mph. Texas Trouble last I heard was playing 18U. Just let me say I am a very happy man now that High school ball is over.
