If the rumors are true about Batbusters and Fusion (Sidwell) now has Gator then I would definatley say that Fusion will be the team to beat. Not just because they picked up the best '94 player (My opinion) but because they are growing stronger and stronger with every tournament and every player move.

How does Fusion (Sidwell) expect to keep 14 or 15 girls on a roster "happy?" Somebody isn't going to be happy. What everyone also seems to be forgetting here is that Fusion (Sidwell) already has one of the best shortstops, second, and third basemen around in 14u. Exactly where does Gator play on this team? How does the rest of the Fusion (Sidwell) girls feel about her "replacing" a starter at shortstop, second, third, etc.? Who "gives up" their position? Is she going to be happy playing backup to one of the older girls. Before you conclude this move made this team "stronger" you might ought to wait ot see how her teammates respond. I agree, however, that this kid is a top player in the city who can definitely win ballgames for anyone she plays for. It should be an interesting month.

Cogratulations on proving the point that Texas teams think that 9 players on a team is enough. Please go check the roster of the top teams in California and see how many atheletes they carry. Maybe Texas Fusion are loading up for nationals instead of FUN IN THE SUN tournaments held at Hurst.

Why don't educate us ignorant Texas softball parents on exactly which California teams carry 14-15 players or more during their regular season. Honestly, I'ld really like to know. I hear this all the time, but when you look at their websites, you see the same 11, 12, and 13 players you see in Texas. Maybe the top 10 California teams at ASA nationals might carry 14 or 15 to nationals, but there are only a few who do so during the regular season.

Ok, let's go to the fastpitch boards and ask them.

The CA teams did have bigger rosters than us out of state folks last year at 12U Nationals, but not by that much. From what I heard, the # of girls increase with each age group. 12U carrying 11-14, 14's carrying 12-15, 16's carrying 13-16, and 18G having as many as 18 girls. I have noticed an increase in rosters in some of the 12 & 14 rosters lately.

Here's my 2 cents. I think at the younger ages a bigger roster is a detriment because other than your core group, the girls aren't getting the game time experience they need at such a developmental age. I'm talking 10-14U. I think money is a factor in SOME of these teams. More girls = more money.

On the flip side, especially starting at 14U, girls are so much more active in other sports and interests that a coach has to cover tournaments for volleyball, basketball, etc. Does that warrant having 6 players on the bench? IMO, no, but I'm not the one juggling travel permits either.

I will leave them nameless, but there's no way a couple of high profile teams here can explain that having 15 or 16 girls on a 12U team is good for anyone, but the coach.

Next thing you know, girls will be starting private batting, throwing, fielding lessons as 6 yr olds so mom and dad can make sure she makes that high profile 12U team in a few years. Ok, a little exagerated, but you get the point.

We weren't at this tournament but we were at the one where the Tazers beat the Peppers. Unfortunately we were gone by the time that game started, Peppers dropped us down in our first bracket game. I don't own a radar gun and have no idea what speed the pitcher we saw was throwing but I can tell you that our girls didn't get anything to hit the grass the entire game so whatever she was doing was working! I've seen the Peppers play time and time again and that is one tough team all through the lineup and in every spot on the field.
My daughter is perfect, she knows everything. Just ask her.

Not much talk about the 94 Bombers. They beat a few of these teams, recently.
