USFA The Good The Bad and the UGLY

by USFA » Fri Feb 05, 2010 10:18 am

I am looking at all of the posts and will try to answer every question and comment.

Umpire fees and gate fees are included in the entry fees.

Exposure Right now there are 5 options to do ASA IFA Premier USSSA and USFA Not ranked best to worse. WE are tring to get more exposure event scheduled. Personally I do something a little different I cap the # of teams so they all can play in 1 complex. Everyone of them that I have done had more coaches than teams attend.

Opening Cerimones is a nightmare Parking is hard to find a spot and with 2500 cars all trying to leave at once is no easy task to accomplish. We hire local police to stop traffic and allow our cars to get out as easy as possible. we are open to suggestion on a better way.

Diferent complex: With 257 teams we would need 900 Time slots doe in 5.5 days on just the 9 fields at Frank Brown we would need 18 Time slots a day. Playing 24 hours a day games times would be 45 mins each. Scheduling 257 team is a nightmare. Our goal is to allow every team to play at Frank Brown as much as possible, but we must use other complexesif we get more than 128 total teams. The best bet is to stay on the east end of the beach.

If I mised anything let me know.

USFA wrote:OK Mark which question do you wnat answered "A" "B" i have answered that a hunder times on here i personall kicked 5 10U teams to the "A" last year and we still had a 10u play in our "B" state that won the ASA "A" State. they also complained about the "A" teams in our "B" State. At least I was told that dont remember who that was.

You shouldn't be so sensitive to the "A" - "B" thing if your not going to do anything about it. If your going to have two different divisions, then put some regulations on it. "A" could be comprised of all second year teams and any first year team (99 Humble Cobras) that want to play in "A". "B" should be all other teams with a minimum of two or three second year players and of those, none of them can be a pitcher. That is just something I thought of off the top of my head. I'm sure if you and all other upper MNFG for USFA put your heads together, you could come up with something even better. The whole mix up last year has steered me away from USFA, that's for sure. Not forever, especially if some things are changed.

Oh BTW, I was just referring to the unanswered questions of gate fee and umpire fees.

The 98 Pearland Panther's won ASA "A" state and ASA "A" Southern Nationals and they did not play in any USFA major tournament? So, not really sure where you are going with that?? The one "A" team that played "B" state was from Seguin and yes, they did win state..

Have a great day sir!!

I am not senitive about the "A" "B" thing. I just do not like people bashing us over it. when they are trying to go "A" in another organization.

Here is one thing that i forgot to tell every one on the A B thing is this we are lookig at other assocations web sites and if any team qualifies in any other organizations "A" then we will move them to our "A". So if anyone is looking for the elusive ASA "A" berth and they are planing on playing with us they may as well sign up for our "A".

And BTW The rage out of the austin area is one of the teams that I personally moved to 10A last year.

USFA/Bobby,

Look at this way, we can't even keep everyone happy, when we run a 30 - 40 team tournament locally :o . Honestly we shouldn't expect perfection from you all. Just the fact that you're willing to come on heybucket and ask for feedback, tells us that USFA is trying to improve.

So thanks for giving us the chance to make suggestions and express ourselves.

Just remember to keep the WHAMBULANCE on hot standby, because the next whiner  will be there.

See you this July!

USFA,

I coach team that is planning on coming down to play in the USFA Nationals. We are an ok team for our area, but I'm not sure how we would do against teams from FL, TENN, TX, ETC... The teams in our area would consider us an "A" team probably, but most of them are weaker teams. Can you or someone else give me an idea what the level of play is like there compared to NSA maybe? I do know that a team that run ruled my team 3 times last season played in 12U "B" last year and went 0-4.

Thanks in advance for any advise...

We have a state and a national trophy and they are quality trophies. The national was taller than my kid.

Like I said it was a couple of years back. The team trophy was huge, but the players trophys seemed small and cheap for such a big event.Look at ASA National awards that is what im comparing it to. Overall great job Bobby!!!!!!!

Texas ASA State also allowed select teams into the B Division. I guess no one is pefect but I agree there needs to set rules and procedures.

Is there actually some formula to figuring out A vs. B in the World Series? 1/2 of the B teams registered should be in the A category? (my opinion) Is this based on points? record? performance rating or what?

Some teams are registered in both?

Would be nice to have some clarification on this. Maybe B should be for the 1st year teams in their division, this might encourage more participation?
