Wasn't Glory one of, what, 2 or 3 '95 teams that qualified for 12"A" last year? I'm too lazy to check the ASA site, but I'm sure there was only a few from Texas that got in. I'm just stating '95 teams.....I'm sure we had plenty of teams there from the '94 class.

2006 National Championship, 2007 Qualifying for 12u"A"........same players or not......that's says allot about the remaining players and coaches......give me another team with that history???

Is there a metro qualifier for the DFW teams to qualify for ASA "A" Nationals?

Yes, and actually Dallas and Fort Worth each have their own.

How many teams play in this tournament? Is there just one spot per age group? What are the requirements to play in this tournament?

I'll let our secret out ;)

You have to be a Fort Worth Metro ASA/Dallas Metro ASA registered team to play in those respective metro tournaments. In 14's, there's no more than 6 signed up for each tournament right now, and there's only 3 12U Dallas teams signed up for the 12U Dallas Metro. One berth is awarded out of each tournament. You have to participate in your metro to go on to Regionals.

Part of the reason of the low sign up right now is because there was some kind of glitch in February when the TD's were posting their tournaments. So if you search by 12U A in Texas no metro tournament shows up because the state wasn't input. Go back and search 12U A, no state, the weekend of 6/16, you'll see it there.

In summary, just from the metro tournaments in DFW, we will have 2 teams in each age group with a berth for Nationals.

So why so few teams? Do teams just not want to go to ASA? Who have beenthe past winners of these berths?

Regarding the 95 Glory.....

They are a great team - no question.

As for the statement: 2006 National Championship, 2007 Qualifying for 12u"A"........

When they won the '06 (10 U ASA National 'Ship) - it automatically qualified them for the '07 12U ASA 'Ship in Roseville last year.
When asked how many times she hit Tiger with the golf club, she responded, "I'm not sure...put me down for an 8!

12UDad, that's a good question and I'd be interested to hear from the coaches on that one.

I do know we're not as hungry for ASA Nationals here than the teams in California in the younger age groups. Seems alot of coaches are ok with taking the girls to a nationals that doubles as the family vacation (like Panama City or Orlando).

I've heard things like "we can't compete on that level as a first year ??U team" and "I'd rather take the girls to ?? instead of going to Montgomery/Midland", stuff like that. As a parent, I'd rather go to ASA and win one or two (and scrimmage 5 or 6), then win 3 or 4 at USFA, but I'm not responsible for 11 or 12 other families.

As for 12U around here, there's only a handful of teams that could truly compete at ASA. The 14's are more loaded with talent and it seems this age is getting more interested in attending the big show.

For example, last year a new Glory team won 12U Ft W metro and didn't go. Don't know why, but I'm guessing they weren't ready. It also seems like teams are content with Southern Nationals.

All of this is just my opinion, but I'm an ASA Nationals fan (if you hadn't figured that out already!). I learned so much last year from watching the level of play and talking with the parents and coaches from other states.

By the way, as far as I know, a bid to nationals can be past down to another team except for for the National Qulaifier. At the National Qualifier only the top team gets the bid and if they don't want it then it goes unclaimed.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but this is what I have been told and seen in the past.
