I said elitist - as in better than you - as in last year, as in today and as in next year. You are obviously missing the point here, as is a lot of other people. I am not trying to extol the greatness of ASA. I am just trying to be a voice of reason. I am going to support whatever organization draws in the very best teams, with the very best talent and with the highest goals for their team. Right now, and for the foreseeable future, that is ASA and PGF. Anytime you want to discuss facts and have debate based on reason - I'm your huckleberry.

Everything your heart desires about ASA, VTD, PONY, WTF or whatever you want to call it has been discussed, re-cycled, re-inserted, re-discussed on HB. Presumably, you missed all of it... so I'll break away from my busy schedule to once again...fetch my lesson plan...and 'learn you' the virtues of your beloved ASA.
Let's start with the word you use to describe yourself, "elitest"....a word synonymous with arrogant, entitled, pretentious, conceited...or in my new neighborhood ...snotty, jerk, snob, a$$hole. You see...at my DD's age...save all the "elitest" ASA bullshi#t...and just show me the money. If PONY or VTD, Little league, basketweaving will help pay the tuition bill in a year or so....then BRING IT ON! I'll ride that PONY for four years...while you "elitest" your head up ASA's bunghole.
"Herd mentality"? ...there's simply no better example than those still loyal (you) to ASA. ASA ? Revisit these words: arrogant, entitled, pretentious, conceited... I can't help the fact that ASA continues to use and abuse it's loyal membership, won't listen to new ideas, won't respond to problems, doesn't include its membership in discussions, continues to employ those whose DDs have long retired from the game.... AND a
flacid attempt at constructing a useful website for its membership. I can keep going, but I don't want to miss my tee time. In short though....if you want to continue to take it in the shorts...then by all means...I hope you enjoyed your stay at Motel 6 in Midland....in August!!!
Costs...ASA vs VTD? My DDs have been playing friendlies for about a decade. The one and only... that objected to our team playing friendlies...was FWASA!!! FWASA repeatedly objected to our local teams playing in friendlies...even to the point of threatening umpires if they participated! Something about paying ASA first for the privilege....Ha! We made it happen though...sneaking around ASA's heavy hand...umpires and teams.
Most of the 6 game guarantee formats (VTD) include six 75 minute games (or 5-6 inning) verses the same old tired format used by ASA in DFW...4gg...including two meaningless, worthless pool games, now shortened to 55 minutes by many (to squeeze in a few more teams = greedy)...then a 2 game bracket... with all your "elitest" 'A' teams chasing their plastic against those superpower 'B' teams. If you can't do the math and see that the better value is the six full games on the dirt vs the 55 minute pool game... then the word "elitest" fits nicely and should be followed by "dumba$$".
Assuming the worst...I'll help you with some math though...
Spring 2010 Teams registered for VTD tournaments in DFW = 1000+
Teams registered for ASA tournaments in DFW = 100 or less
POW, POW !!! Ride 'em PONY....!!!Of course, all 100 of those teams are the "elite" ones.
Chuckle, chuckle...snort!!!So please... save your preaching for you and your other dweebs out there that want to vomit your "elitest", ASA company line...and let me get back to my golf game...
