I think the class of the 1st years are either scared or looking at bigger fish to fry. HOFQ is in midland, Co Fireworks/sparkler, ASA nats in Illinois. Welcome to the big girl softball league!!!!!

Maybe because it's just not that big of deal. It's just another oversized fundraising tournament that you have to sit around all day to play.

OR

Maybe times are tough for some right now with the economy like it is and budgets are tight. Teams might just be saving their budgets for tournaments that matter.

Terrible fields, terrible umpires, terrible bracket draws, etc. The talent figured it out and now stay in Dallas or Houston. Shame too because this tournament used to be the place to be in March to test yourself at 10u, 12u, and 14u. The question is will the Bombers do something about it?

Tournament full for months. What do they have to figure out. It is not truly a state showcase or invitational. I do agree about the fields, the draws, and the umpires.

I agree, but at least there will be some good competition and whoever comes out on top of this tournament can say they did really well.

The tournament used to attract the very best teams from Houston, Dallas, and even Oklahoma. The Bomber Shootout used to be the tournament to establish some street cred as a team to beat in the summer. Now it is "full" of local teams. The cream of Houston, Dallas and the rest of the state no longer make the trip because they got tired of the awful complexes, the worst umpires in Texas, and bracket draws that were intentionally designed to favor the Bombers and friends of the Bombers, etc.

I believe that in reality these houston teams did not register on time and we are now making excuses why they are not there...Or are they just afraid to compete against the local teams for the tournament...Hummm....

believe it or not maryann I agree with you. i also agree with 1down1togo. but there are still enough qualiy teams to make the winner proud of the accomplishment. i also think the 4 teams from houston will finish in top 10. i just hope there arent to many scrub teams. i saw the pool schedule but does anyone have a list of teams entered.
