Any good softball camps this summer?

by elizabeth » Mon May 17, 2010 1:26 pm

I am looking for a softball camp for the summer that will challenge my 13 year old daughter. She has been playing softball for 7 years so I am NOT looking for a beginner camp. Anyone know of any good ones? Or does anyone know a website which lists them all? Thanks

Stephen F. Austin State University puts on a good camp. They should have information on their website.

If she's in HS or just finished 8th grade, going to a college camp would be a good idea. Just check their website, most are already filling up their summer camps.
My daughter is perfect, she knows everything. Just ask her.

I agree that the college camps, in particular the overnight college camps, are great for the kids that age. They are put in an environment away from their parents and get to interact daily with college players. The training will probably be what you consider to be a "beginner's camp" skill wise but the interaction with the players and coaches will be a real experience for them. Baylor puts on a very good camp, particularly if your daughter is a Christian as well as an athlete. The smaller the college, the more personal attention given at the camp in most cases.

Texas A&M puts on a great camp June 13-16.
This will be my DD's 3rd year to attend.
Lot's of talented girls, and great / tough coaching with daily scrimmages.

I have looked into some of the college camps but you have to have completed the 8th grade. My daughter is entering the 8th grade, so I have to look for smaller camps.

There are lots of colleges that offer camps for younger girls. UT has an overnight for younger girls coming up next month.

Klein Oak and Head Coach Jav Vela are conducting a 3 day camp at Burroughs Park June 7-9 from 9am to 1pm. Look elsewhere in Regional News for Texas for more information. Also, go to www.kleinoaksoftball.com for information and a sign-up form that you can download, print and send in.
