Illegal Pitches in 5A State Championship Games

by 6th Sense » Thu Jun 10, 2010 9:50 am

An illegal pitch is an illegal pitch at the end of the day! The pitchers, pitching coaches, high school coaches and even the parents no it's an illegal pitch. But yet we choose to do it all year, because they let us get away with it. There are only two ways to prevent an umpire from controlling a game thru IP's. 1: change the rule. or 2: Pitch correctly.

Florida U was run ruled in the Coll. W.S. primarily due to illegal pitches. She was called for 10 IP's in that game and it was only called on her 4 times prior.

Blue's you must become consistent in your calls.

Ah! the old truism

Age and treachery will overcome youth and skill everytime
Sometimes too much to drink is barely enough.

Teach your dd to pitch the right way and you don't have to worry about the IP.

I don't know how you can read the previous posts and put something down as trite as this.

Not calling illegal pitches throughout the course of the season and then calling them in the final 4 for the state championship, to the point of throwing the game is not right.

Calling an illegal pitch seems to be alot like calling travelling in the NBA. There is the way its done in practice and the way James Naismith concieved it. Be consistent. I think all anyone should expect of the blues is that they are consistent. What happened here is not consistent.
