My wife and I didn't choose softball for her, she chose it for herself

She did dance from 4 til 11 years old (tap, ballet, point, jazz, etc.), which I think really helped her coordination. She grew so big so young (about 5'6" with size 9 shoes at age 11) that she would have been really clumsy without dance.
She also did gymnastics on and off during that time, which also helped.
She tried soccer and a little basketball, but didn't like either very much, I guess maybe because of the contact
She also likes volleyball, and plays for her middle school team, and is probaby good enough to play club volleyball, but it would interfere with softball too much.
After her 2nd year of 9-10 yr old all-stars (little league), she told me she wanted to play softball year round if she could, so we started playing travel ball that next spring (playing 14U as an 11 year old) and we're still going. I just wish she had asked to start learning how to pitch a little earlier than 11, but oh well....
