Back on topic, my DD played softball, volleyball, soccer and basketball when she was young. As she got close to high school, she played only soccer and softball. She played on a club soccer team and a travel softball team. We told her that once she got into high school, she could only play one travel sport since both were pretty much year round. While I think she liked soccer better, the fact is that her high school did not have a soccer program, almost made is necessary that she select softball. I'm glad she did.

Tried many, decision came to softball or basketball. She still plays some hoops, but loves softball so that has precedence. Part of the process may have included me telling her I could help her a lot more with softball than with basketball, because I don't know squat about basketball.

Of course we then got into TB, and I realized I didn't know squat about softball either.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

My daughter plays because she is good at it. She has always been the best hitter in town, and she likes to be the best. Now that she is in H.S. she is working harder (not quite hard enough, according to her father and her batting average) - but she is having fun and looking forward to travel ball starting. She is still the starting short stop on varsity as a freshman!

She still plays basketball, but only in the winter. She played rec basketball as a freshman in high school and didn't try out for the school team. This year she may - if it makes her happy, she should do it. She took a week long basketball camp last year at a local college and after two days she said - you know, I am a softball player not a basketball player. So who knows?

All I can say is friends don't let friends play lacrosse and soccer is for weenies.

And in the words of the great Jimmie Duggan - we play because it is hard and because not everyone can do it (or something like that) That is why my daughter plays.

OK, so whatever. I don't post much because whatever you say is taken wrong or someone makes fun of you. If I wanna brag about my kid - why am I different than anyone else?

The kid plays because she likes to hit. I am sure she is not as good of a hitter as your kids in Cali - I am sure you will say its not hard to be the best in a small town on the east coast - and that is probably true. I didn't say the kid is the best ever anywhere, cause she ain't - but she works hard and could be better if she worked harder.

I thought someone would pick up on my other comments- that one from a league of their own is one of my favorites.

Like I said, whatever.
