ASA Has Priced Itself Out of the Market

Vegas is insanely HOT, especially the last week of July. We are not playing "A" next year. I was just saying, I bet a lot more teams who's coaches & parents like to play in LV will be.

For some reason, people in our part of the country would rather go to Vegas instead of Southern Cal... I don't get it either, especially since we have Indian Casinos on every other street corner.

I would be more for a Nationals in San Diego or Honolulu!!

The point, Mike, is that they may need to think about actually marketing their product to more viable locations at some point in the near future....or not. Some of the elite teams may not have the money to go to ASA in the future solely because of their idiotic qualifying rules. I'm not saying it WILL happen, but traveling in the summer is not cheap and many folks aren't doing well financially. They could hold a championship that doesn't include the best teams in the nation and lose their corner on that particular market. If they continue to consider J.O. an afterthought, they surely will.

Fresno is going after the 16U Nationals in 2010. With the success of the Force Classic, we have demonstrated to the local powers what softball can do for Fresno, so we will not be out bid! Now SoCal, give us some love and your votes!!! We will have secured 21 fields at 4 locations with 13 lighted fields and 3 fields with Stadum bench back seating for 500. If awarded the bid, the City of Fresno is thinking about moving up the expansion of Fresno Regional Park to add an additional 6 youth softball fields with lights and new consession stands. This would give us 27 fields at 4 location with 19 under lights. Fresno State has offered Bulldog Stadium for the Championship Game also.

Last time California Hosted the 16U Nationals was 1997 in Fresno, CA.

Fresno in August was the most miserable weather conditions I've ever experienced at a softball tournament. Also the worst opening cremonies I've ever seen in my life.

I can tell you from experience that the USFA Nationals in Panama City is wonderful. Games spread out so the kids can enjoy the beach, the parents dont have to rush around and the fields are awesome. Its nice to be able to see whats in the ocean too. Like being in a swimming pool! Plus winning the thing made the 12 hour drive home very pleasurable.
