Why Softball over other sports

What's on your mind?

The kid plays because she likes to hit. I am sure she is not as good of a hitter as your kids in Cali - I am sure you will say its not hard to be the best in a small town on the east coast - and that is probably true. I didn't say the kid is the best ever anywhere, cause she ain't - but she works hard and could be better if she worked harder.

I thought someone would pick up on my other comments- that one from a league of their own is one of my favorites.

Like I said, whatever.

Don't worry about what any of us dummies say...t's your board just as much as it is ours.

But rest assured that we will make fun of you if all you do is tout your kid. ;)
There is no charge for awesomeness
...or attractiveness.

OK I am going to catch flack for this but softball is not DD's favorite sports.

Basketball all the way but she still enjoys playing softball and volleyball and is just blessed with a good work ethic which I think is why she does so well in all of them.

I truly am deeply troubled, both of mine pitch. Why tough, I can tell you how. The big one (raised on a steady diet of baseball due to sick fan parents) found the game naturally, flier at school 3rd grade rec ball. Couple friends went to play together. They lasted one season. She got bit. Little one sat in dugout, wanted to do what big sister did so we all played catch together it seemed so innocent at the time. Big one got pitching bug. Went to lessons, little one watched and wanted to do what the older one did. Little one finally got to play, Big one worked her ass off and got better, little one was paying attention at practice and lessons and dominated from the start. Big one saw little one cutting in on her turf worked harder, and got better. Little one saw big one getting better by working harder, started working harder. Big one seeing how hard little one was working, worked yet harder. Big one noticed by TB coaches for how much time she spent at fields, working, played first yr TB, little one again went along and watched, worked. Next year, she was noticed, invited, excelled. And worked harder, and then figured gods gifts to fellow and opposing players had limits but the amount of time they could coherece from me was nearly unlimited. So that's what we did. So we have the E=MC2 of youth sports. As an adoleseant thru teen girl nothing is more reaffriming that working hard and being acknowlegded, and rewarded and having tangible sucess at something so difficult. You asked #1
