12U STATE--cancelled for Sat. updated 5-24-08 @ 9:45am

What's on your mind?

by SSdad » Fri May 23, 2008 6:39 pm

Just got a phone call from our coach that games for Saturday have been cancelled.

Someone please tell me he was joking............................
It's better to keep your mouth shut and look like you're stupid......
than to open it and remove all doubt.

Sounds like you all need a drink, or maybe two!

I also got the call. Nothing on ASA's website, but that's not surprising.

So, what happens to the brakets now, just pickup on Sunday with byes for eveyone on Saturday? Or do they just push the entire bracket back? This is going to make for an interesting mess, er I mean tournament.

Well if Hemet had something to do it would be different! We have families who got rooms for tonight (Friday) and some are already there! The mall takes a whole 20 mins to go through! LOL

Hopefully it will all go down ok on Sunday!
Good Luck

Bracket are staying the same, just game times are 1 hour earlier, is what we were told. But that they would get back to us if anything changes!!

#1 - Try to enjoy your Saturday in one of the Inland Empire's hidden gems, the beautiful city of Hemet. Hopefully, we'll see you Sunday.

I don't mean to get off on a rant here....but is anyone really surprised that tomorrow has been canceled. I mean think about how this whole tournament has been (mis)managed. From a delayed inaccurate team list...to a draw without times and field allocations....to brackets being posted 48 hours prior to games....to a cancellation nearly 12 hours prior to the first game times. I'm not there, and I understand that the city or parks and rec typically make the decision on the fields, but I would guess that this decision could have been made earlier on Friday than 6pm. I can't speak for the tournament director, but it just seems to me the trouble one would go through to get fields in condition to play (they could post something on HB and you would get a small army out there at sunrise to get fields ready to play), would be a lot easier than trying to reschedule a 3-day tournament into two days and the inconvenience caused to all the players and families that traveled out tonight, paying for hotels they don't need and trying to find something to do in downtown Hemet on a Saturday.
