So Cal top 96's

What happened to Victory USA '96, Nemesis '96? Last year at Nationals I felt these two teams were better than the Corona Angels. The Rebels were very good. I find this topic very interesting as we beat the Rebels, Victory and Angels at Nationals 2007. Nice to see who is still up and coming and can't wait to face the California ' 96 teams in 2009...

Hi Chris, we were just talking about you the other day...LOL Said we hadn't heard anything from you this year! All those teams are still around...Rebels didnt start up playing again till Jan. So just getting started, Nemesis and Victory are still playing also. Victory has a new coach this season. How are the Comets doing?

Comets are off with a bang this season with hopes of returning to Nationals this year in Montgomery. Our core team is still together, but we have 5 - '95 b'dates..Local state association rules are so that if playing middle school ball, you can't play travel here in Alabama and Tennessee, so we are now all just getting back together. We have performed very well this spring thus far.

Here is a little teaser... 2009 will be something special for our group of '96 girls. More details to come later, but we will be a top contender come 2009 Nationals!

Well last I heard Victory still had a team!

Well, the results are in from Fresno and here is how is shakes out. JMHO

1. FireCrackers 96 - Battled AA's 95 only to lose 8-7 in ITB - won first gold bracket game. Had Mizuno Pride 95 against the wall as well in late innings, Beat Silver bracket winner in pool play.
2.SD PowerSurge - strong pool play, folded to Nemesis Elite in Gold Bracket
3. Team Smith - folded to Minors Gold in Gold Bracket
4. OC Batbusters - couldn't seem to score on top teams
5. So Cal Jynx

I thought BB only has two 95s. I would call them a 96 team. If 1 is ok on Rebels then why not 2 on another team? Where do you draw the line

Batbusters '96 started with Nine (9) 95's. Four of them have left. Not sure if any new players are '95's or '96's.

Isn't it amazng how people are picking the best 96 teams in May of 2008 when Nationals are in August of 2009? LOL

Hilarious considering 2nd year 12's are much stronger, faster, smarter, etc. They are just on a different level than 1st year 12's.

So for the 96's, that's an entire year of growth...players will shift...Rec ball superstars will emerge into the travel scene...tournament draws are huge, etc.

Oh, and did I mention Nationals are 14 months from now?

I will admit I expect the Comets to be a contender though...and you can bet the California teams will be there to give you a challenge.

After all the 96 teams that I have seen this year and I have not seen them all, Power Surge 96 is the best team. They have great coaching and the team is solid.

I agree, Power Surge '96 is a strong team and one of the few true '96 teams around. Although all teams will be making player adjustments come next year when the older girls advance into 14's, I just can't consider teams like the OC Batbusters & Jynx really '96 teams when they have 3+ stud '95 starters. That would be like taking 3 of the great CA '95 players and stacking the CA '96 team and then claiming they are '96s... I think there are only a handful of true top '96 teams actually competing this season: CA '96, CA Rebels, Nemesis, PowerSurge, Firecrackers (?)... JMO Most of these have done fairly well, with CA 96 taking the Most Improved 12U Team award....

2000 Miles away it was announced today that the Comets '96 (Al) & Frost Falcons (Tn) '96 will be joining forces in 2009 for a run at H.O.F in Oklahoma and ASA/USA 12U "A" Nationals in Normal, Il! This will take the Comets 6 players and matched them with the 5 best Falcons players... Some of our weakness was their strong points, and vice versa......Combining talent 1-11, a great pitching rotation, tons of power and speed....

Between the two teams there is a 5th & 13th Place 10U ASA "A' Nationals, many State Championships & World Series Wins, tons of victories...

In my 4 yrs of travel ball there has never been two powerhouse teams like this merge together, in these parts of the country!!!
