Norcal Top Ten list!!

What's on your mind?

Arioto left Sorcerer to join the Sting last summer, so if she ends up on a team, it probably won't be Sorcerer.

The way I see it, Arioto will not play this summer. Why would she? If she did decide to come back and play, then I say it will be with sorcerers. The reason is that Sorcerers are big on getting college players every year and sting not so big on it. Mumma is a win at all cost guy and has no loyalty to nobody on that team. It's all about winning. Nothing wrong with that, I agree with his philosiphy. Im sure he has been begging Arioto, her parents and Coach Ninemier everyday. Perales is not that type of coach. I see him as a coach who will try and win with what he has. Im sure after what mumma saw of the sting on sunday, he is scared and going after as many players as he can. If Arioto does play for him it would not surprise me or anybody else.
I just found out an interesting fact today. as many times as sting and sorcerers have played, Coach Mumma has only beaten Perales once, just once in head to head match ups over the years. Perales owns Mumma big time so I can see why mumma wants to beat sting so bad plus Im sure he is tired of going 2 and out and 3 and out each year in gold nationals where sting finished 7th. He's gotta hate it.

DBLUE wrote:Lady Magic! Great team, but look at who you played this weekend there!!! Your bracket didn't exactly have the best competition around. The RR gold team you faced is a 16 and under, and a good win over Sting 2. But the rest of your competition is nothing to brag about! Anybody else see much of Sting 2? Maybe they should be bumped from top ten.

You're kidding right? Let's see, did Jolene pitch more than 3 innings all weekend? You know, Jolene Henderson, 67 MPH fastball, the top High school pitcher in the state of California and arguably the country? The one who verbaled a full ride to Cal at 15 yo? the one who threw a no hitter in the championship game of the SJ D1 Section Championships?

And wasn't that Ally Carda playing 1st in that game against R&R (LM's very strong #2 all league pitcher). So LM started #3 pitcher, which held R&R without a runner past second until they brought in their #4 pitcher, when they finally managed to score.

And wasn't that R&R's ace pitcher who started that game?

Oh, and Lady Magic is a 16 under team comprised of several players from the Sheldon High School team that spent several weeks at the top of the NFCA/USA Today softball rankings. Gotta be favored to be in the top three when all is said and done in August.

A. 67mph fastball- thats funny , 64-65mph max on a good day avg.63
B. top HS pitcher in the state- that's funny also . Top pitcher on the top hs team in the state, yes. Everyone is good in high school especially when you have 3 or 4 other D1 bound players/ all travel ball players on one team. They usually can play "D' and score you runs like your back to back 1-0 games in the championship.
C. top in the country- That's really funny now. she deserves consideration but has a long way to go and that is not meant in a negative way but im sure she is working to improve.
There are at least 5 better HS pitchers in northern california better than her.

Henderson is a good kid who will be a good pitcher in college. Whoever Old Darter is, please do not put this stuff on message boards because people will critcize an innocent person when you brag and make foolish statements.

MIH,

I have seen a lot of pitchers in my day, and I am going to have to agree with Old Darter on this one. You are not going to find 5 pitchers in highschool in the country "better" than the two on the Lady Magic. You may find 1 or 2 as good, but you will not find 5 better. If so, please name them so I can partake in viewing thier skills this summer. I have seen the Ricketts girls. In fact I have seen them often. I will even go for letting 1 or both of them in the Top 5, but who are the other 3? No matter how I slice it, the Lady Magic pair are Top 5.

They blew me and about 30 other coaches away at the R&R tournament.

Let the debate begin!

I enjoy the debate, I enjoy all the speculation, but eventually these teams will play it out on the diamond and who's the best or who's the strongest will ultimately be settled on the field by the girls, the way it should it be, and all the talk and speculation will be just that.

BCS System, sounds interesting, how would that work?

DHB,

I agree with you 100%.

I was joshing about the BCS system.

If that happens, I will boycott softball!

I find the Lady Magic debate very funny, whom ever is doing all the talking on behalf of Lady Magic, must be a parent because it is a little inflated.

I'm very familiar with Lady Magic having watched them up close nearly every game last summer. Yes Jolene can pitch how good she will be remains to be seen, but please, oh please do not equate what she did at the high school level(40ft mound) with GOLD ball, two different worlds my friend.

I expect Lady Magic to do well at 16's, but to even mention them in the same breath as other GOLD teams is a farce because they are not playing GOLD so we will never know. Personally, I have no idea why they are playing 16's, that is not going to help any of their college bound players get ready especially Jolene as throwing from a 40ft mound is not where she will be throwing from at CAL.

So until they step up and play with the big dogs hush all the noise about them being a top GOLD team unless they are ready to step up come down to Lancaster and prove it! Other wise let them go to the Metro beat up on the rest of the 16's and go to Nationals where I expect they will excel and do quite well.

The reason is that Sorcerers are big on getting college players every year and sting not so big on it. Mumma is a win at all cost guy and has no loyalty to nobody on that team.

Response: Question, Is it unloyal to be win at all cost? Is the coach at LSU not loyal when she starts a freshman over a senior because she wants to put her best 9 out there?

It's all about winning. Nothing wrong with that, I agree with his philosophy. I’m sure he has been begging Arioto, her parents and Coach Ninemier everyday. Perales is not that type of coach. I see him as a coach who will try and win with what he has.I’m sure after what Mumma saw of the sting on Sunday, he is scared and going after as many players as he can.

Response: What did he see to be scared of? Come on now, I'm not breaking out my poms poms for Mumma here but scared? Come on, with that line up he will put out there when it really counts I personally would not be scared of anyone as I'm sure Mumma will not be scared either, that is a bit much. On another note, whether he is scared or not is irrelevant, he does not play, and I can tell you first hand knowing the girls he has on that team and guessing as to the girls that will play when it counts I definetly do not believe that they will be scared of the Sting, not even close, believe that.

If Arioto does play for him it would not surprise me or anybody else.

Response: Really, after she walked away, would surprise me a bit.

I just found out an interesting fact today. As many times as sting and sorcerers have played, Coach Mumma has only beaten Perales once, just once in head to head match ups over the years. Perales owns Mumma big time so I can see why Mumma wants to beat sting so bad plus I’m sure he is tired of going 2 and out and 3 and out each year in gold nationals where sting finished 7th. He's gotta hate it.

Response: That is interesting that Perelas has beaten Mumma head to head like that, well again not defending the Sorcerer cause they don’t need it but with Perales playing his starters, batting 9, and pitching his ace to beat Mumma in a game that meant absolutely NADA I can buy that. And who does want to go 2 and out, or 3 in out, I personally would pick up whom ever I needed to stop that nonsense. No doubt Sorcerer has not shown well at Gold Nationals in recent years and I agree 100% with you on that point and I'm quite sure that is something that Mumma wants to change.

The Sting is a great team and an even greater organization, I wish them all the luck in the world, and just as I have stated before, I would love to see them bump heads when it really matters should be a great game.
