No kidding Jofus, and on top of that, I have two dds on this team. So that puts me in another category of daddy ball coaches, like double daddy ball coach of the year or something. We did the two hour thing for quite a while with our older dd - worked out and she had fun but it wore us out with the kids on different teams.

To be honest, I didnt think it would work - I thought the two would kill each other. But instead the two brats have gotten to be much closer - the only time I hear much from them toward each other is when we are doing live pitching at practice and the older has the nerve to think that the younger is trying to brush her back off the plate or something ridiculous like that.

What exactly are you looking for, anyway? Yes, we all know that DADDYBALL exists and is a problem. Some of us may have had problems with it in the past, or maybe still are. Some of us may have even been guilty of it ourselves in the past, or maybe still are. I'm not sure Mommyball would necessarily be any better. Actually, in our tournament this weekend, several teams had at least one female coach.

Take for example....my DD's team. She has 2 coaches, one daddy and one mommy. The mommy just happened to play softball in college at a smaller school, and according to her husband, was a 3 time all-american Shortstop (I never confirmed that myself, but I have no reason to think he would lie, and she definitely knows her softball). Her DD is one of the youngest and less experienced players on our team. She either plays 2nd or outfield, and bats anywhere from 2nd to 9th in the lineup (they change the lineup quite often), but she has probably improved more in the last 2 months than any other player on our team, and I guarantee that it's because of the additional one-on-one time they spend working on stuff, in addition to the normal team practices.

Donnie, thankfully my younger DD is only 2, so by the time I have to worry about her softball, my older one will be able to get herself to wherever she needs to go

Why is it that really good coaches usually have daughters that can play really good. The answer is because they are really good coaches.

Why is it that bad coaches have daughters that aren't very good? The answer is because they are bad coaches.

So, if indeed you are on a team where the coaches daughter is not very good, then shame on you for putting your daughter on that team to begin with, because it should have been obvious to you to begin with that he wasn't a good coach because his daughter sucked.

That is a very good point! It should be pretty easy to tell if the coach is worth a damn, just look at the kid and you'll get your answer!!

When the coach's daughter is an excellent catcher, but when she's not catching she goes into the outfield, taking a spot from a player who's first and only position is the outfield, so everyone can watch the coach's DD drop fly balls and let ground balls go through her legs because it's not the position she usually plays and practices?

There is an instance where this would not be DaddyBall. If they happend to be playing in a Showcase, and the coach has been requested to move the player from catcher to the outfield. Requests such as this happend all the time at Gold Showcases. Good coaches will make that change as requested everytime. Coaches who are in it for themselves and just trying to win will not.
