That's a tough reality in travel ball though, if a player is not say a top six bat on a team, when you move on to compete at a National level, TCS or whatever, teams will try and pick up players that fill in the gaps; and if a pick-up player has a good stick, well... It looks like most of the ads are for speed, courtesy runners, back-up pitchers/catchers, etc. My DD had the opportunity to be a pick-up player two years ago after All Star B-States, but we declined based solely on your concern. We didn't feel right about jumping on a team and possibly taking someone's spot who's been there for the team's entire journey....
