All this hype over who has the best 2-U team and so on...who do you think is the best or most influential coaches in the area? WHY?

I don't really think he is the best coach in North Texas, but you gotta hand it to Flannigan for putting a great team together. He may be a better recruiter than a coach and love him or hate him he's won alot of games and not just in their age group, they play up and win. He's the only coach that I know around here that has won a national championship. I know there are other coaches around here that have gone to nationals and done pretty well, but there is a difference in doing pretty well and winning it all. Elliott is a pretty darn good coach if you can get past all the bitching and whining [I think that must be trait for all glory coaches], he has won alot of games when he was with the Kruzers and now with Glory. Good guy just argues to many calls.

After much thought, I think I would annoint Brandon Narin as the top club coach in NT. He coaches the Glory 12-U first year team. He finished 2-3 at ASA Nationals a year ago and has more fun on the field than a grown man should be allowed to have. His kids love him, he gets on hus knees and coaches them from their level. He keeps the same kids, teaches them and is loyal to her and her parents. I hope that he never loses his passion!

I agree with Janet 100%. Those coaches that develop their own girls and watch them grow get more satisfaction than you can imagine. Way too many players (parents) jump ship at the first chance. You can always tell the teams with the core of players that have been together for years.

Those teams with the same six girls that came out of rec together would be the teams going home early on Saturday, right?

I admire a team that can play together from 8-U through 18-U...I just don't know of any. I would also say that chances would be great that a whole lot of daddyballing would be taking place on that team.

One other thoughts for those that think that the clubs ie, BB, Glory or Elite are bad...name one team like you mentioned where the coach kept the same girls all those years and the players went off to play at the D1 or D2 level? The benefit in having a club like the ones I mention is that you have guys like Ken Graves, Kevin Shelton, Dan Adkins, JD Bancroft who have personal relationships with a lot of college coaches. As an umpire, I talk to a lot of college coaches and know from personal conversations that a coach figures that if little susie were a real prospect to play at the next level she would be on one of the ablove mentioned clubs where she would be challenged to be a better player and have to earn her keep not to mention playing the best teams in the country.

As an umpire, I talk to a lot

Does anyone else find this comment from behindtheplate interesting besides me?

He now states that he is an umpire but yet he is one here naming people and saying negative comments about teams(etc. Flannigan). Does this mean that everything we all thought was actually true about umpires? Is he VERY biased when umpiring games when he doesn't LIKE a person/coach/team?

This seems pretty interesting to me and makes me wonder who this guy really is and if we all need to watch out for him whne he UMPIRES our daughters games

I haven't called a 12-U game in the last 10 years. I now stick to college ball and if the mood hits, I will do gold. I do spend a lot of time around the parks and do talk to a lot of my friends that ump, word gets around on coaches who conduct themselves as idiots on the field. Does not change balls/strikes safe/out calls. The players play, coaches coach and blues enforce the rules, pretty simple huh!

Not simple at all. I will agree with play4fun on this one.

I read all of your past posts and you seem to have an fixation on one coach. For never umpiring one of his games, you seem to know alot about him. I don't know this guy but it seems that he stands out more than others because of the accomplishments his team has claimed over the years.

It is amazing that a so called college/gold ump is fixed on a 12U coach. :?: :?:

If you take away his accomplishments, he will seem like every other coach that has been thrown out of games over the years for actions on the ballfield.

I have already seen way to many coaches to name that have been thrown out of games this year in 14U and 12U. (Some coaches   in 14U are making it a habit!!!!)

I also don't think that the umpires of North Texas would appreciate you speaking on their behalf about a certain coach or otherwise.

I stand by what I said.

behindtheplate,
Read your past posts... you seem to think you know Flannigan personally.

People don't realize that softball is a small community and after a while, people see the jealously that goes on between teams/coaches/parents/players. Once a player has been let go of a good team and that teams seems to keep winning then the jealousy gets stronger and THE PARENT can't seem to let it go.

Over time, and mutiple posts, you can actually figure out who certain people are with just the comments they make and the "fixations" (good word someonecares) they have.

Yes, behindtheplate, you seem more like a parent than an actual ump. A real/true college/gold ump concentrates on his job and not just one coach.
