Fresno Force Vs ASA State

What's on your mind?

by Dreamseam » Wed Jun 18, 2008 6:46 am

Earlier in the year people were talking about how the Fresno Force Tournament would be a gauge for the top finishers at ASA State and eventually Nationals.
Now that State and Force are done, how do the finishers compare in all divisions?

Is Fresno a true gauge for the top teams or just an expensive friendly?
Any thoughts?

At 14u State, no Corona, no Victory USA, no Lakewood Black. Also, look at the scores at 14u State. Lots of 1 run games, lots of ITB games. There is alot of parity and great athletes in the 14u division, and, on any given day, alot of teams can beat each other. Also, dont forget how much a good draw at State definately helped a few teams. Fresno Force is a great Tourney. But, at this level, you never, which is why its so fun, right??
Go.....
Angels,
Raiders,
Lakers,
Trojans!

Fresno Force Classic is Nothing but an expensive friendly in my opinion. There are numerous big tournaments with tough teams, around the South. It was ran real bad, the weather was hot, the hotels were horrible. I say we all refuse to go next year, finally putting a end to this horrible tournament!!!!!!!!!!!! Why drive 4-5-6 hours to play there when we can do it here. They rely on us to go up there, because without the southern california teams, who would be there. Fresno is no competition. None!!!!! Who is in with me?

Great idea! How about you start working on a tournament right now to compete on the same dates at Fresno Force Classic next year. I have no doubt you'll put on the finest tournament ever seen by anyone anywhere, and you can come on here next year this time and tell us how wonderful your team did beating.... well, ummm.... your other team?

All the sudden I'm really looking forward to next Spring!

Sorry Intel, but there's a new sheriff in town, and his name is DGAFF.

Wow, Fresno Force Tourney is really going to suck if there is one less whiner there who does not really want to be there. I'll drown my sorrows in their great tri tips as the best run tournament I work all year.. bar none.

I wish I had a dollar for every time someone on here has quoted DGAFF like he's actually written something worth responding to. (He never has, and he ain't gonna.)

For the record though, there were a few others on here denigrating the FFC...most notably this supremely idiotic rant posted shortly after the tournament ended:

qwikvr6 wrote:They should change the name next year to Fresno Farce. The officiating was horrible. The parking and entrance fees were ridiculous, and I could go on and on about the way some people were treated at the gates on Sunday because of the color of their skin. I guess that normal in Clovis, CA. I'll just say I'm glad to be home. It drives me nuts when I have to drive hundreds of miles to play against teams from our area. By the way I was wrong about my predictions, I hate eating crow but it's true. The girls did not eat their Wheaties Sunday Morning.

Since no one is coming next year, I guess we will have to return the checks of the teams already registered. We should probably tell the teams from Washington, Oregon and "new" next year "Texas" not to book their flights. I will call ASA and tell them that Force Classic should not be a HOF qualifier next year.

Then again, I think not.
