softballrulznut wrote:#2 Hebron knocked of #1 Keller (4-2) this morning in Class 5A action at the Allen Tournament however Hebron laid an egg in their game immediately following the Keller game losing 7-0 to Coppell. Hebron's ace threw both games.

Due to some rescheduling Hebron had a rough schedule.

They dropped a 4-3 game to Rockwall Heath at 8pm Friday night and had to be back in Allen for the 9am game vs Keller and immediately had to move from Allen HS to Allen Station Park for the 11am game.

What other tournament action has everyone observed this weekend?

Southlake had some great out of town teams playing. In town... Frisco Wakeland looks very, very good.

There was an unfortunate incident following the very last game of the Allen Tournament apparently. I was told that following the 4-4 tie some fans from both Flower Mound Marcus and Celina who were playing started shouting and some F-Bombs were dropped and a fairly significant scuffle broke out with fans taking a few swings and a lot of pushing going on right behind the backstop. I was told that Allen police were called but that it was broken up by they time the arrived.

Details were pretty sketchy as they often are in these situations but there is absolutely ZERO need for this type of behavior at the ballpark.

I might also note that - just rumor - that a local travel ball coach from Celina might have been the ignitor to this incident.

Wakeland is a good team. But from what I have seen they appear to play down to their competition. Which will get them beat by a lesser team at some point. I heard they had to come back several times this weekend to win.
Saw some really good games though. Hope the teams from out of town got what they were hoping for. Some good N. Tx softball.
I did not see all the games. What games impressed you in SL?

Conroe Montgomery and Canyon Randall both went 6-0 for the weekend.

Westwood went undefeated in the Round Rock tournament. In the Championship they lost to a solid Elgin team. 1-0. Westwood played well with very solid hitting throughout the tournament. Stoney point also looked good.

I will rank what I have seen in Houston so far:

1. The Woodlands. Didn't see a weakness on the team anywhere. Pitcher and catcher were two of the best I have seen. Infield and outfield are all solid players. They seem to be a well coached team that takes care of business.

2. Bellaire is really good. Another great pitcher and good team speed. A few holes on defense, but a pitcher like theirs can carry them a long way.

3. Montgomery has 3 players committed to Big 12 schools and a pitcher that I don't remember from last year that is pretty good. I saw a couple of weaker players, but overall they are solid.

4. Tomball doesn't have the dominating pitching but they are loaded. If they had any of the pitchers from the top 3 teams, they would be right there with The Woodlands.

5. Katy is not playing well right now, but they have a lot of talent and I expect them to be a force when it counts.

6. Pearland lost some big bats last year, and the replacements are going to have to step up. If they do, look out for them in Austin this year.

Biggest surprises I have seen:

Klein Oak: Vela just keeps running out a solid team.
Magnolia: Pitching is off and on. Watched the same girl pitch 2 games last weekend and she rolled in one game and GOT rolled in the next against what I thought was a lesser opponent.
Cinco Ranch: This team has a lot of talent and is just not playing that well right now. I really thought they would be tough all season.
Katy Taylor: I expected a lot more out of them than I saw. They seem to have a lot more talent on the field than the scores of their games show. Seem to make a lot of fundamental errors. Coaching maybe?

This is what I have seen so far. I haven't been everywhere, but I have seen my share of games.

Softballrulznut,

Now just a rumor mind you, but I HEARD you were right there witnessing the entire scene! I would have a hard time believing that one specific travel ball coach from celina was involved! Now certainly there may be more than one travel ball coach from celina, but by just putting out a nameless allegation, you risk the potential of sullying the reputation of someone! Yet that doesn't seem to concern you! Honcho Out! :ugeek:

Pancho

You're exactly right! Nut should go ahead and complete the process, be specific and name names...

I was actually not there and I did not witness it. Actually heard about it via text from a friend of mine.

I did not throw out the name because what I heard was second hand so I was not going to throw the name out there without some confirmation.

No matter who started it or who witnessed it....there is absolutely no place in youth sports for this type of poor behavior and it is a shame it happened.

I agee totally that it shouldn't happen in sports! 100% agreement there! However, I know that at the very least, you or your co-hort were standing about 5 feet away from it. My point is if there is more than one travel ball coach from celina, you're throwing them all under the bus! If there is only one, and it's the one that I know of, then I find it HIGHLY doubtful to be him! Honcho Out! :ugeek:
