10-U Nor Cal Teams

by lawdawg » Mon Feb 28, 2011 8:55 pm

Manteca Mayhem threw a 10U friendly and as to be expected right now AASA is the team to beat.

AASA- very solid pitching, hitting and coaching. Expierenced 10U team thats going to be hard to beat.

Mayhem- older team that when they are on can be very good.

Cal Breeze and Grapettes- good core of older 10's but have some younger girls. If the younger girls improve, as they should, both will be very good 10U teams.

Titans, Hot Shots and Panthers- young teams, made some mistakes and pitching needs to come around.

Smash was not there but I have seen. Another team that appears to have a good mixture of older and younger girls. In time and some games under their belt they could also be a good team.

I have no info on any other local 10U teams at this time.

So why isnt anybody complaining about the high costs of tourneys at big league dreams? Do they let you bring in an ice chest full of food inside? Do you have a gate fee? And am I mistaken (I could be) or do players have to pay to get inside there also?

I have never taken my team to BLD. Tourneys are too expensive. I did not know coaches had to pay, but no way am I paying more money for the tourney and then paying a gate fee to get inside to coach my team in the games we have already paid for.

I just find it so hypocritical to complain about gate fees and not being able to take in an ice chest, but BLD is even worse and nobody complains about that.

I will never take my teams to BLD with those policies in place. Plus the artificial surface really changes the game.

BLD is primarily USSSA and NSA and the quality of teams is sub par at best, especially in Manteca.

Although for 10U, its a good way to get some work in and have your parents talk smack about mercy ruling some rec-ball team while they drink a $15 pitcher of brew.

Yes it is very hypocritical!! Not just that, but there is Triple Crown Tourneys that have big tournament fees, gate fees, no ice chests, and even bring your own balls. It will be interesting in the Sac Area the Breeze are having a tournament next weekend, will there be gate fees and no ice chests?? There is nothing wrong with that IMO, but lets hold everyone to this standard!!

I heard Hayward on the 19th is canceled. Is anyone playing at Rainbow on the 19th? Or would they like to have a one day friendly?
