Opinion of best bat to use for 10U, 12U 14U etc

by tmjones » Fri Mar 25, 2011 1:03 pm

Curious about what everyone thinks the current hot bat is at each age level.....

For example, at 10U I see mainly DeMarini Vendettas (-12) and CF4's (-10), a lot of Miken Halo -12's (the pink bat), and the Easton Synge is getting popular now also. I'm not sold quite yet on the amount of "pop" I have seen from the synge yet. Also see a few Anderson Techzillas (-10) and occasionally a Rockettech (-9).

Vendetta is junk! I've seen several broken at the 10U and 12U level. No pop! CF4 are good bats w/ plenty of pop, have seen 2 crack in last 2yrs. Anderson bats are all good w/ lots of pop! Not composite, but will dent sometimes.

This is probally one of those subjects that relies on personal prefrence.

My 10u's team all recieved Worth Toxic and and the Worth Eclipse, both drop 10's. DD has a Easton Stealth Speed, purple and white. The coaches now has the majority of the team swinging the stealths.
My 12u has the same stealth, purple and white. Bought her a Demarini CF4, side by side comparrison, Stealth comes off harder with more pop. She now has a Easton Stealth black bat, in a -9. I've seen her teamate absoultely crush a ball with the Worth Toxic, had her try it, and didn't get the same results. I haven't figured that one out yet.
Before you buy, have you DD try someone elses bat. These things can get expensive if you dont' choose the right one. Just my opinion.

My DD's Easton Stealth never saw the light of day again after getting an Anderson Rocketech. That was four years ago. She's had 5 Rocketechs. (A 2007 31", 2008 32", 2009 33", a used 2005 33", and a rare find of a 2005 33" new in the wrapper.) Now, we just bought a 34" Anderson Nanotech.

The Rocketech's are end-loaded bats, not even weight distribution like Stealths and CF4's. The Nanotech isn't quite as end loaded. Maybe slightly, but she's having trouble adjusting because it feels so much lighter. She maintains her 2005 33" is her FAVE, but she's trying to get used to the Nanotech. Just yesterday after some cage work with it, she said "Mom, I barely hit the ball and it seems like I'm crushing them!" Can't wait to see what happens in tournament play.

We're admittedly HUGE supporters of the Anderson bat company. Of course, it's just our opinion, but we believe Rocketechs are the best bat out there with the most pop. She's had lots of homeruns.... got her 1st one out of the park this past fall by at least an extra 15 feet dead center field at Midwest. She's still young....turns 13 in two weeks, plays 12u. Half her team has Demarini CF4's....they seem to like them, but the break in period was rough. Infield pop ups like CRAZY. Seems fine now, though.

We used the rockettechs a lot before moving up to 10U fastpitch. Now, some the girls have a hard time swinging the 30 inch -9 bat. So I have moved my daughter to a -10 CF4 but am ready to get her back on the rockettech now that she is a year older. Rockettech seems to have a lot more pop than the CF4. I can tell from hitting pop flies and grounders to the girls that the rocket tech has more pop. JMO

Absolutely! They swung the 30 inch -9 during coach pitch and killed the ball. It was a tip I got from the Center Grove Cyclones coach. One of our girls put 4 over the fence on 150 and 175 foot fields. Made all the difference in the world for our team. The girls went 50-4 that year and placed 5th in Bowling Green ASA Nationals. 8U is loaded with rockettechs and the techzilla, which is a 30 inch -10.

Awesome bat for an 8U that can swing it and keep proper swinging mechanics.

You don't need proper swing mechanics to hit coach pitch. That's why Rockettech's work so well at 8U.

I would disagree with that comment. You should always teach proper mechanics even at coach pitch. We practice proper mechanics on tees, soft toss etc. Tee work, soft toss etc are all used up into the college and professional level and utilized to work on mechanics.

Coach pitch is no different and teaching proper mechanics during coach pitch is what it's all about when developing young players.

While I appreciate your sarcasm.......it is a bit ignorant. It's kind of like saying, "you don't need proper mechanics to hit off of a tee or to do soft toss".......ummmmm yeah! But why do the drill if you aren't working on mechanics?

Anyhow this thread is about opinions of best bat and at what age level. Perhaps you could start a swinging mechanics thread and we could debate at what age those should be developed..... Just Sayin'

Thanks for the reply! :?
