Opinion of best bat to use for 10U, 12U 14U etc

by Fuddrules » Thu Apr 07, 2011 7:28 am

LOL - easy there Bevis.

Who said anything about teaching swing mechanics? Twasn't me.

Ever watch a slow pitch game and the swing mechanics? Nothing like fastpitch. In coach pitch a little squirt can swing a log and hit the ball far - like slow pitch. You can get away with horrid swing mechanics in coach pitch. You can swing whatever bat you want in coach pitch but often the heavier bats work better for distance.

That is all. Nothing more.

I would disagree with that comment. You should always teach proper mechanics even at coach pitch. We practice proper mechanics on tees, soft toss etc. Tee work, soft toss etc are all used up into the college and professional level and utilized to work on mechanics.

Coach pitch is no different and teaching proper mechanics during coach pitch is what it's all about when developing young players.

While I appreciate your sarcasm.......it is a bit ignorant. It's kind of like saying, "you don't need proper mechanics to hit off of a tee or to do soft toss".......ummmmm yeah! But why do the drill if you aren't working on mechanics?

Anyhow this thread is about opinions of best bat and at what age level. Perhaps you could start a swinging mechanics thread and we could debate at what age those should be developed..... Just Sayin'

Thanks for the reply! :?

Before 10U? Anderson thanks you...very much!

8U and even 10U, and many in 12U...something made out of hickory would do just fine...

The good news is that your donation to Anderson and others is keeping hard working Americans employed during these troubled times.

For 8U coach pitch - Rockettech of course. Girls can clobber the ball at that level with a Rockettech. A lot of girls would use 22 or 23 oz bats then at 8U. At 12's, they're were using 21 oz and at 14's they finally move back up to 22 oz.

As far as player pitch - at better than B level, you better use a bat that they can swing properly. That will vary by the player on which bat is best. Good bats are listed on here a lot but a few include: CF4, Stealth, Toxic, Rocketech, etc....
