If they are not at ASA State, they have no excuse!!

Are Premier and ASA the same weekend there?

In SoCal, most teams are trying to qualify for both.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Indiana Xtreme's goal all along was to qualify for ASA/USA this summer. There are only three berths available and they're up for grabs the three weekends in June. It is what it is, we'd love to be playing in the PFG at Midwest.

As to missing the boat Bake, you can't have it both ways, in another thread you're bashing teams for not going to ASA/USA, now you're taking jabs at teams who are attempting to go to ASA/USA, which is it? I assure you the Xtreme's schedule the rest of the summer and fall are as competitive as anyone's in the midwest.

you are absolutely correct slapperdad, but I did not make the statement of "missing the boat", that would be "riseballcoach", I did say "that ship has sailed" but in my defense I was not aware that those two tournaments were on the same weekend, that is unfortunate for the teams that seek out the best competition!! I am sure the Xtreme would love to play in both!!!

It definitely would have made life at 16U easier for all involved with scheduling if ASA would have left the State Tournament at the July 9th weekend date that it has been in years past. With a limited amount of berth's to hand out, having one of the three qualifying tournaments on the same date as the Premier Qualifier forces teams to make a difficult choice when putting together schedules. In addition, the closest out of state ASA Regional Qualifiers also fall on the same dates as the in-state qualifiers, so they don't afford any additional qualifying opportunities for Indiana teams either since you can't be in two locations at the same time. It seems to me that ASA would have made an attempt not to overlap qualifiers from the same geographic area on the same date in order to draw teams that very well would have attended both!

Since it's come up, let me throw this out to the veterans, I'm just fumbling my way thru this for the first time. Our goal was originally to make a run at 16 ASA next year when we're 16's. But we have two kids who are 94 birthdays. So if we're going to do it, it has to be this year. That being said, my thoughts are this:
A. In the grand scheme of things, we don't have kids on our team that are going to the west coast or top 20 type programs, so is being at ASA nationals really that big of a deal?
B. I think the goals have changed somewhat, at this stage of the game, I really have no interest in adding trophies to the shelf, the goal is to get my kid a college education. Does going to ASA nationals, or any nationals serve that purpose?
C. I get the best of the best crap, but seriously my DD is a soph, in 6-7 years when she's trying to find a job, nobody's really going to care where she finished when she went to nationals. Am I missing something?
