You shook my hand as well...just make sure you don't confuse me with the monkey man. ;)

I shook a lot of peoples hands, yours being one of them and I would never get any of ya'll confused with 3 monkeys, my wife or my jock strap. The later of the two giving me lots of support over the years. Even though, I think 3 monkeys has supported me in the past too and may even wind up rooting for the same team one day??!! ;)

I'll bet 3 monkeys responds now???? Maybe not back from the hill country yet??

AAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE 27!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For Mavfan, no I did not put #27 up for allstars. We decided she would play with the 16U Texas Aces Express instead of the 14U Pearland Power, but she did have a good time getting to play with her younger sister. Thanks for asking!!!

I want clear things up. My team is a mixture of 96's and 97's(8-8th graders and 3- 7th graders). I'm close to being 50/50 so calling me TPS 97 is not correct. I've seen people get all butt hurt when you classify yourself and carry older kids. I registered my team as TPS (Miller) so to clear any misconceptions. See ya on the dirt.

Just because they are in 8th grade doesn't mean they are a 96. My DD is a 97 and is in the 8th grade. I didn't take it that way Mark. Just wanted to clarify that I had some 96's on my roster.

I am only a parent of a TPS 98 player, but I am a former coach of a team that played in Nationals last year so I think I bring a fair evaluation of what it takes to prepare for Nationals.

First, thanks for the comments. Since TPS 98 played in 12U Nationals last year the coaches have seen first-hand what a team has to do to place highly at that level. Since placing high at Nationals is the team goal for 2011, it only makes sense for us to prepare our team for what we will see at the National level. One can argue about the draw and how that can assist in how high you place until you turn blue in the face, but the fact still remains that if you want to win at Nationals you must eventually beat the very best teams in the nation. Playing up in 14U has nothing to do with thinking our team is better than everyone at the 12U level. It all has to do with meeting our team goal of qualifying and then performing well at Nationals regardless of the draw. We could focus on trying to fill our shelves with more plastic trophies by playing local fundraising tourneys at the 12U level, but we feel it is more important to develop our girls to play at a level they will see if they go deep in the tourney at Nationals. Playing strong teams like TPS 97 and Young Ones will assist us in meeting that goal. They are both very good teams as are some of the others we have had the opportunity to play while playing up at the 14U level.

In the end I feel that if the coaches continue what they are doing then they have provided more value for our DD's than adding any plastic trophies to our shelves.

VERY WELL SAID! This weekend in Ga was the annual 7 game Ga. get together (Carrollton Classic) Both the 98 Atl. Vipers and 98 Worth Cobras played up in 14A. 7 games over 2 days in 90 degree weather against the best Ga. has to offer. Saw the 98 Vipers lose in ITB to the 97 Ga. Impact 3-2 and saw the 98 Cobras only lose 2-0 (0-0 till 6th inning) to the eventual champs (97 Ga. Fire) Both 98s went 5-2 on the weekend. This is THE only way to preapre for the SoCal invasion coming to Bama in August. Best of luck to all the teams in Texas. Wishing ya'll a very prosperous season. See you in Montgomery!

They are a classy bunch! They placed third in Alvin this weekend and they were the only 99 team in the tournament. Fun to watch! Enjoyed playing them... as any other team... when they are on they are on!

Did not see them on any prediction list...lol

This sounds like a Heat parent talking :D Well the talk is the Heat will lose players at the end of the season, its going to be very interesting where they end up. :o

They are a very good first year 12u team.
That is a shame that they may lose players. I do not know the reasons. They could have and may still be the next 12u nationals hopeful in 2012.
I do not know why parents will take girls off of a team with that much talent and with that much to look forward to next year, to go somewhere else, not knowing what will happen somewhere else. You see it happen all the time. I guess they believe, The Grass is Greener on the other side !!!!!!!!!!

KMA...what do you care if it is a Heat parent talking? I am the parent of a player from TPS 98 and I will say the same thing....Heat 99 is a heck of a scrappy team and you can't count them as an automatic win. If there is talk about players leaving then the parents are pulling their daughter from what looks to be a very good situation. I agree that the Heat 99 will likely be the top 12U team next year and parents would be wise to be patient and let this team continue to develop.

That team has some great talent, however we all know it's not the girls that break the teams up, it's the big headed parents that want the DD to play a certain position and bat in a certain hole. The Tx Heat is an offspring of Kingwood Edge, Crossfire, TPS 99 and Cobras 99, hand picked and you don't think was going to be a problem. My guess is that Eddie will never be able to make all those parents happy no matter what they wins.
Just my 2 cents....
