ASA vs VTD umpires, which is better?

I don't know how conflict of interest would work with coaches having a financial stake in VTD. I think it would be worse than the " Good Ole Boys" of ASA

Hang on Danny, let me check with Ken...

Danny, Ken said he didn't have an opinion either way on your question/statement. He said to ask Joe. He might have an answer for you...

Thanks Ken...thanks Danny...

Danny, here's what I think...

I know in lawn mowing school they probably don't teach many business classes like they should, but when I showed up at college, one of my first classes in business school was about business startups. When you go against a guy who has been in business for decades (ASA), you need capital...that's another word for 'pesos' Danny. With that capital, you can begin to expand your market by hiring more people, advertising to more customers, etc, etc.

I don't have a clue if asking coaches (people in softball) - to invest is a conflict of interest. If it is, I could certainly rattle off a few hundred others (conflicts of interest) just like that with coaches, commissioners, and parents who run ASA. I do know that VTD won't survive if they cannot expand their market to areas outside of Texas.

In summary, win or lose...you have to give Richardson an A+ for going up against the big, fat ape in the room named ASA. Danny, if VTD fails, you'll still be able to kiss the azz of Gotcher and Company at FWASA. If VTD makes it...it will be a teaching moment for all of us...

...to listen to the customer.

SOME of the umpires are the same. There are more tournaments than before on weekends between VTD and yes ASA. So they have had to hire new ones that don't have the experience or knowledge yet. The good ones are spread out. I have noticed several of the good ones staying aways from VTD tournaments....

As far as only Mansfield having ASA there are other ones also.
www.tournamentasa.com

Right now not all are making but it is only a matter of time before they all start making. We have had good experiences in the tournaments we have played in the Fall and so far this Spring.

And Joe or whoever you are, we all no the only reason VTD is succeeding in DFW is because of the website. It is familiar and easy. But once people get tired of this game and they will and notice that ASA has created an easy option as well it will be intersting to see. Good luck to VTD expanding in to different areas

I am out now... I am tired of hearing Joe " blah blah blah Vtd is the best, blah blah blah ASA is the devil." It is obvious you have a personal axe to grind with some people within ASA. Have fun with that while everyone else moves on. Eyes are being opened as we speak. I know that so many teams had such a wonderful experience in Southlake this past weekend!!

Indeed I have! I experienced the same when these same umpires were wearing an ASA hat.

haha, same in socal.
Dammit people, if you would only read the sentences Joe writes when he's not getting in your kitchen and pissing y'all off, you might learn something...

hhhmmm, I could say the same thing about Benaround...

Hey, wait a minute...Joe...Benaround.....you never see them together at a party...

Einhorn is finkle!
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

Danny, you said you were "out" 10 posts ago. Stay with me brother! Together we can solve this...

Here's what I have...

VTD has success in NTX because of the parks that host VTD events, just like the success they had when they hosted ASA tournaments. The website is nice, but teams want to play in nice parks run by folks who know what they're doing.

ASA tourneys will start to make...after two years of you saying so? Perhaps...but if I have a choice to play in Irving or McKinney, I'm headin' north...

You say good luck to VTD? I'm sure Alan appreciates your best wishes...

Southlake? Who cares?

I never said VTD was the greatest...

I did say ASA is the devil...

Dearest Joseph -

You truly are one of a kind and your hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me. As I read your same posts over and over...ASA is the devil....when truly you mean GG and FWASA is the devil (which in all fairness you might be right about), I can't help but be reminded of a quote I learned growing up in my childhood:

"Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength."

Your insane bulldog mentality has cauterized you into a broken-record, rude juvenile prone to profanity and phallic referenced sexual innuendo. I would be willing to bet my last dollar if GG or anybody else related to ASA, contacted you soliciting money for ASA so it could expand its marketing reach or whatever other reason, your fingers would be bleeding from the expediency of your HB ASA bashing post.

You see, I too, went to college and learned during my first day at business school (although college and business school are usually 2 different entities ;) ), the need for START-UP capital, money needed to start your business. Most legitimate businesses that succeed are founded on solid business principles with plenty of due diligence and planning done before the first day of operation is even considered. It is only my opinion, which makes this discussion neither right nor wrong, but asking coaches (customers) for capital a year and half (according to you - more like 10 years of VTD web platform to me) into business lends itself to questions about integrity.

As I have stated from the very beginning of my discussions with you, VTD could very well rename itself to MPS (Metroplex Softball). That is the reality. It always has been and always will be, unless of course us coaches fork over money so VTD can hire more people and develop a marketing plan so they can be like ASA and Premier, or even USSSA or USFA for that matter. Gee, somehow I just don't see that happening. I think VTD has a better chance of having a national tournament.....oh wait.

I do agree with you Joe about the need for fastpitch softball, in whatever grouping of letters, in our communities and ball parks. We just have differing viewpoints because my whole softball experience has been centered around the very best competition, regardless of affiliation, and yours has not. Not every team, parent, DD can or necessarily should have my same viewpoint. Up until last year, that experience was solely ASA. Now you have Premier trying to market itself and get a piece of that championship pie. The more they succeed the better the game of softball becomes. I also learned in business school while at college ;) , the benefits of competition vs monopolies. I just never, in my wildest dreams, see VTD competing for that same piece of pie. Truthfully, I'm not sure that is even a goal of theirs. In my final reference to my days at business school while attending college ;) , I learned about the principles of profitability. ALL businesses are created to be profitable. That is the end-game. Therefore, businesses, if they are going to survive, especially the new ones in today's economy, must be able to develop profit centers and ways of generating cash-flow. That is what this is all about - plain and simple.

Finally, I can't resist the urge to bring to your attention some little 'ole ASA friendly this weekend. Yes it is by invite only, further perpetuating that whole elitist attitude you despise so much. However, it does have 12 of the best teams in 14U in the entire South. There are 4 top teams from Houston and a top team from Tennessee traveling all the way to Dallas on Mother's Day weekend to play in a one-day friendly at some crappy ASA park. Each team will pay $75 entry fee and receive a 5 GG that will cost them $30 at the plate. By my business school math, that is a total investment of $225. When has VTD ever hosted an event that drew that much level of competition, much less a team outside of TX, LA, AR, OK, NM (i.e. bordering states) for that little of an investment?

In close, I will leave you with this scripture and hope you glean understanding from it's message:

"Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools." Ecclesiastes 7:9
"Here's the deal, I'm the best there is - plain and simple. I mean I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence."

Scripture? Jemima is quoting scripture on HB?

Here's one from the book of JOE...

"Be not the homer...who smelleth and kisseth the ass of the ASA in perpetuity." Joe 1:1

I know several ASA umps staying away as well, for fear of losing all of their ASA games and basically being "bluelisted." Anyhow, the same guys calling ASA, I see at high school and see at VTD and also calling Rec. Heck, I even see some baseball umpires with light blue shirts on in *cough* District 3 *cough* that don't know what a lookback rule is (however, I did fill them in after the game and they did appreciated it). The problem is not enough umpires.

I see umpires working on ESPN that work weekend tournaments. The thing is, you only see them wearing ASA.

Simply fact is this, there are REALLY BAD umpires in all organizations, but fringe oranizations like VTD, and USSSA never have the good umpires come back and call for them because they were never there to start with.
