Janet Smith wrote:Dad, you're to be congratulated for the complete lack of integrity, morals, and common sense. Any thought that may have crossed your pea brain that this web site IS frequented by young ladies who play softball must have been lost in the translation. GET A CLUE!!!

Anyone who allows their younger daughters to frequent this website is an idiot. And the older daughters hear far worse than that every time they go to school.

The joke was posted in the "Pub" section, which is specifically advertised as being for off-color commentary. Plus it was funny as hell. So back at you...get a clue.

I have met Skarp and I deal with a lot of people everyday and I am a pretty good judge of character and Skarp is a good kid. If you don't like what he said that is your own opinion and you have all the right in the world to tell him so but what if his daughter saw what you just posted about her dad.

...daughters beware!!!

Keep your eyes on me all you like. I have zero doubt that I'd avert mine from you.

And by all means keep allowing your daughters to read adult-oriented forums, and keep congratulating yourself for being a protective parent for sniveling to the adults thereon. Real smart and productive. If it's all the same to you though, I'll be taking my parenting cues from elsewhere.

Now go bake Mr. Prude some cookies or something.

Spazsdad, I laughed my ass off, Artomatic and Skarp, I laughed even harder! I love the Housekeeping monthly article. I took it to my wife and told her it was a guide to follow, after she punched me she told me "good luck with that", Sigh! :D

not sure if you can see the date in that article, it's from the mid fifties...
a couple ridiculously funny paragraphs...
"even if he stays out all night"
"he is the master of his domain"
"clean yourself up before he gets home"
"clean the kids up and keep them quiet"
man, times have changed...
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

Ms. Smith, taking issue with what was posted is, IMO, defenseless given the context. If your kid is on the internet, they likely have access to infinitely worse content than words routinely heard at every single high school every day. That goes from the worst public schools in Compton to the most prestigious private schools. Personally, I do not and will not censor myself because of the possibility that a kid has elected to wander into this forum. Your child and others are not my responsibility. My kids are my responsibility. If I was concerned that my kid would come in here and read a naughty word that would emotionally or spiritually scar them, I suppose I would take steps to prevent them from accessing this site. I surely would not expect everyone else to adhere to my highly subjective judgement on what is and isn't appropriate.

Respectfully,
John
