Season In Review

What's on your mind?

by softballjerk » Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:37 am

What a Softball Season!
TNL Coach is undergoing criminal trial for having sex with one of the "underage" players on his team.
Western nat'ls umpires had to disqualify two teams for the actions of their coaches.

What has this sport come to? This is SAD...

Where is the self control in these adults?
To often the families rally around "out of control" coaches when they embark with this absurd behavior. Verbally assulting an umpire, seems to be a badge of honor, latley.
What happened to talking, disgussing and even disagreeing with Human Beings, Like they are Human Beigns? Is that to much to ask from you - Coach?
Might be one of those "Life lessons" being taught - If you are unhappy with a decision, whine, cry, argue, yell, use profanity, to express yourself, all while in front of kids that are looking up to you.

As for the other coach facing criminal charges for allegidly having sex with an underaged player he coached, good luck in the Pokie (prison is called the Pokie for a reason - you might get poked, lets all keep our fingers crossed)

For those coaches that actually care and are doing things the right way - I applaud you in your efforts and wish you well in your future endevours.

Another note; can someone please comment on how it feels (for you or your kid) when a coach picks up many players for nationals, sits the kids that are and have been the foundation of the team and Still goes home early? What an experience for these kids...

Let the comments FLY....

why does ASA still allow coach's to wear anything. In seems to me that the coach's that wear just anything. for example wife beater tanks and sandols are usually going to be problem coach's. Those are the first coach's that want challenge the umpire on everything even when they know the rules they just want to be a Bully. Great example for the girls!! Of course the girls are the ones cussing up a storm that have these trashy coach's.

It blows my mind that coach's let there girls back talk a umpire, let there girls cuss at the other teams fans and girls ect. Of course when u look at the slob of a coach you can figure they are just following his leadership.

Why parents allow there girls to be on these teams is beyond me. Unless they are the same way.

In regards to picking up players for Nationals. The only reason that should be done is to have at least 10 to 11 girls to take. To many things can happen with only 9 or 10. Of course when you pick up a girl then she plays.

but if you are talking about a team with already 11 plus girls and you are picking up, that is plain wrong.

While you make some valid points, this thread should hardly be called "Season in Review", because it lacks any mention of all the great softball, coaches, players, games, plays, tournaments, etc. etc.

The problems you listed aren't symptomatic of girls fastpitch but of society as a whole, including all other youth sports.

If you take a second to look at the bright side, this was a fantastic year for softball.

IMHO
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Well said, Anon.. A fantastic year! Loser Parents will choose loser coaches; responsible parents will choose coaches who will teach their DD what needs to be taught. There are some wonderful success stories of teams that started out slow and were very impressive at the end of the season, some teams fought through hardships and injuries to come out on top -- let's focus a review on some of these teams if we are going to stay true to what this topic should really be...
