Agree, the Lagoon Park folks put on a great tournament. Fields were all in fantastic condition, watered and lined for every game, and the ceremonies were memorable (but hot). Nice to meet some Heybuckeeters, including Numero Uno (thanks again for the pin). Really enjoyed some quality ball and met some nice people from across the country. Now if we could just have figured out how to hit a good rise ball....

You know ICE...I recognize there is no comeback for scoreboard...and I made the fact that you are there, and I am here, blatantly obvious in my original post, but for you to resort to pulling this out now and only now leads me to believe that you've got no other value to add to this "meaningless debate". I guess you could have buried the hatchet a long time ago and saved all of us from this time suck by just keeping your mouth shut. By the way, I'm glad that you recognize that this debate is meaningless, because, again, the purpose of my original post was to call out that your contributions (pool play scores/records) to this thread, were in fact meaningless. Furthermore, I don't know specifically what your role is with PS, but if you are a coach, I would spend a little less time participating in "meaningless debate" on the HB and a little more time preparing for the next game at your "first ASA A Nationals", but then again if this works for you (after all you are there), then by all means, please continue. I have nothing better to do. Lastly, if you are going to enlighten me as a participant on HB with your pool play results, the least you could do is let me know how you did in your first elimination game yesterday; however, based on your non-response, I'll take it you lost. I'm sorry to hear that...it will be a tough road for your young team, but at least you were 2-0 in pool play, congratulations.

I have to thank one more person:
Sandy, a Montgomery resident...
Here's why:
We flew in to Atlanta (driove to Montgomery from there) last Saturday and Air Tran (blech!) lost one of our bags.
It was our bathroom suitcase. All our bathroom stuff, but also, my kid's trading pins, her contact lenses, my contact lenses, all our phone chargers, battery chargers, etc....
On Monday, Air Trans (blech!) called and said they located the bag, and they would have it fed-ex-ed to our hotel by Tuesday. Great, my kid would have her contacts before bracket play starts, and we would get our bag back...

So Tuesday morning, we are awakened in our hotel room by a call from a lady named Sandy, who lives in Montgomery.
It seems Air Trans also lost 5 (!) of her bags on a recent trip she took. They delivered her bags that Tuesday morning on her front porch. Our fricking bag was on her front porch also...
She said she called Fed Ex and they said it wasn't their problem. She then called Air Tran, and got a recording...
She noticed my name and the hotel we were at on the Fed Ex tag on our bag. So she took the time to track down the hotel phone number, and get our room's phone. She then trusted me enough to give me her phone number and home address, which was about 2.5 miles away from our hotel. I drove to her house and picked up our missing bag...
Talk about southern hospitality!

Now I understand why the City of Montgomery was allowed to host their 34th ASA National Tournament. The fields were great and the people are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Everything seemed to run very smooth. Thank you everyone from Fain and Lagoon Park for making the 2008 Nationals a very fun and positive experience for everyone.
We went downtown and did a little bit of the tourist thing and went to the Rosa Park Museum, unbelievable. I hope some of you were able to go there.

Class!!! I can assure you that none of our parents said anything neg. to your kid or team. Don't hate because we choose to have or show a little spirit. Lets just get it out there..we most likely beat you guys. Somebody should have made sure the tournament rules read " In the South church held every day, even at ball park and we would have been quiet"

Every year I see teams that show no class and at 12 U nationals this year the teams were all pretty classy. Can someone tell Nemesis from California that putting rocks inside water bottles and banging them like fools is unacceptable. Show some class Nemesis you guys are embarrassing.

So, just to be clear, did you guys put rocks in water bottles and bang them or not?

Congratulations to the CA on the National Title, classy coach, solid team and one hella of a great athlete at shortstop, she made some plays against us that just made you say, "no way she just did that", let alone be 12yrs old and do that.

I would also like to say GREAT job by the California Grapettes, having to fight right from the start with what I thought was the toughest bracket and draw, going thru AH, Spring Sting and the Kruzers and TPS, back to back to back to back, just to get to CA AND give them everthing they wanted in a 2-1 loss.

I would also like to thank the field crew at Lagoon and Fain parks for doing a excellant job on the fields each game

One question though why would you toss a head coach in such a big game on Sunday WITHOUT warning for saying from the dugout area, "did you see that one", its beyond me. Trust me I heard alot worse coming from coachs than that and Umpires not even flinching. You would think when the girls come this far in a tourney that the umpires would not be so quick to toss a coach, it was just mind blowing at the time.

Kudos to all of you "Hey Bucketers" that have written about the POSITIVE of the last week. If we think about it, it is not so much about the fans, fields, etc., or those of us sitting behind the computer screen, it is about the girls who are actually on the field doing the playing! If we remember that they are only 11,12, and 13 years old, we should appreciate how hard each and every one of them played. At every game, in that heat, I saw girls on both sides of the field giving their all! You could tell there was a true love of the sport and a desire to do their very best! Great Job girls!! As for "Southern Hospitality", there is nothing better! Thank you Montgomery!

CA's SS is far and away the best player I've seen at this level.

Congrats to the Grapettes. I've given you grief over the boombox and whatnot, but you guys are clearly doing something right up there. The team clearly improved a lot during the season.
