2nd Annual Mizuno / Christway Sports Exposure Showcase

by TXfastpitchsoftball » Fri Sep 30, 2011 1:47 pm

I'm still looking for the answer to the question: who did Randy talk too at the Christway Exposure Showcase because we certainly didn't see college coaches there. At most, only 2 to 4 coaches in the whole park at any given time and that is with 5 fields. The UTA coach only came to watch her daughters play and then went right back to Craig Ranch is what I was told, so kinda hard to count her. With 70 teams, you have to think that is a lot of players sending out a lot of emails to a lot of coaches and to only get a couple of JUCOS and a mom doesn't count as an exposure tournament.

Mr TXfastpitchsoftball

With all due respect, I was there and so numerous college coaches. Those who think the organizers are in this for the money do not understand the concept of doing what's right for our young people. I'm sorry your coach count didn't meet expectations, but must look past self-centered goals and concentrate on what's best for the community. God Bless and thank you!

FYI - Just spent the day at the College Exposure @ Kiest Park in Dallas. Guess what? Very few coaches. I personally saw 3 all day. They also charged $5 to get in. At least Christway didn't charge a gate fee. If you check college fall schedules, many are playing through next weekend, so any turnout anywhere is slim.

^^^ bingo

Assuming you are looking for quantity and/or "big names", now is not the time, generally speaking. They are playing fall ball and hosting recruits. There are exceptions, but a few phone calls will tell you where and when they recruit.

Be careful who you call Joe or Fred...making claims like that could get someone kicked off the board!

How sure are you about this list? Because I'm pretty certain that Arkansas-Monticello, Arkansas Tech, SFA, St. Edwards, and UCA weren't there, but we may just have missed them. Would be interested who the "few more" were.

I have been coaching 18u and gold for 15 years , I always find it funny to hear people say they only saw 2 college coaches at a showcase ! Most people dont know college coaches from vendors , parents or coaches . Next I attend several showcases over 15 years and yes some of them had very few coaches . It takes allot of time and effort to get coaches in and you do good to gather 5 coaches the first couple years .I remember Elite showcases , AFA nationals and ronald mcdonald not hjavingh so many coaches there , but now they do and it cost money to get them there . I encourage any of you to host a college showcase just one time !
If there was 2 college coaches there that you seen , then thats two that seen your kid .
Coaches go to the tournaments that players email them about playing in with their schedule . If there were few coaches there then you most likely did not contact any to let them know your team was playing there . Most of you are mis understanding the recruitting process and should research it ! Going to showcases is a very small portion of it , and if you did not tell a coach you were playing , then chances are no one was there to see you !
