I bought an apple airport express a while back and have been using it HARDWIRED. I am now trying to use it wireless and I can not get it to be located by the airport express utility. It scan and says no airport express is found. I moved it right next to my router and still nothing.

If I hook in the Ethernet cable, it works perfectly allowing me to stream music from my PC into my home stereo using Itunes. i want this done with no cables.

Those of you that have one, shouldnt you just be able to plug in the base and then wait a few minutes, open the utility and it should be found? I have already put in the passwords to the thing when I had it wired into my system, but once I remove the Ethernet cable, it is lost.

If it is not hardwired- it needs to be off of another (wireless) router

When you say IT what are you referring to? All I have is the airport express that plugs into the wall. So are you saying that if THAT airport express is not hardwired, i will then need another piece of Apple hardware?? The base station?

I think what I have is the base station. Plugs into the wall, can be hardwired, here is what I have.

http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku= ... d=10001650

and that piece should be able to connect up through my router, but I can not get it found using the apple airport express utility. I should be able to plug that thing into the wall, and then like a laptop, it should find the network and then using the utility that you install, it should locate that airport express, but it doesnt.

The it is the airport express- it needs to be either hardwired to the computer(or router) or if acting wireless-you need a wireless router. I believe that there are some issues with some non-apple wireless routers
