Fresno Force Classic 2012

I totally agree that the Brackets are totally lop sided in 12u and 14u. No way there should be a 2 game difference between #1 seeds. This is definantly a set up and a lot of teams are being screwed over. SoCals Finest here we come. No wonder SoCal teams do not want to come up here and play.

I agree that this has been a good tournament. I am not part of the politics, so I would not know them if I saw them. We were at this tournament last year and had no complaints. The competition was great and the umpiring was some of the best we had all year.

I am not saying that one particular team is benefiting from the bracket. My issue is that some teams will have fresh players specifically pitching after only playing two games on Sunday while other teams will have a higher probability of tired pitching after going four games on Sunday.
That is clearly an advantage for one team over another and falls into the category of unfair.

To take it one step further. If you take into account the games played on Saturday, then that would be seven games vs. five games. All within the group of teams that come in FIRST in their pools. I understand the concept of "If you do well in your pool, you get a bye on Sunday", that does not seem to be the case here.

We have received some emails and phone calls about the Sunday Brackets. We are currently evaluating the current bracket along with two other brackets to see which brackets can be used within our current tournament configuration of fields. The criteria we are using is:

1. Number of fields available per site. Limit movement from one location to another.
2. Having championship game start no later than 5pm
3. Rewarding a team for winning a pool
4. Try to limit champions to four games on Sunday

If you want to add your suggestions, email me at midodd@comcast.net. We will make a decision tonight and post an update by 8 pm Wednesday.

Mr. Monday,

We have 3 completely different brackets that have been completed. Each one has strength and weakness. I would like to thank those that sent me brackets or links to look at. We will evaluate all 3 tonight and make a decision. I printed the heybucket.com comments and took them to last night meeting.

After talking to other coaches we all agree that Sundays brackets were horrible. It is nice that they are taking another look at them. All #1 seeds should play the same amount of games to win it all. If you have to play a little later to make it even then thats what should be done.

I agree with Boogieman. Doesnt make sense to give #1 seed from certain pools a less challenging path to champiosnhip than #1 seeds from other pools. If you seed #1 your path to the campionship should be equal to that of other #1 seeds. You shouldnt have to start earlier or play more games to acheive the same goal. I also dont like the idea of Silver and Gold brackets at this event. Seems like to many TD's are going in that direction. Reward the teams that seed well on Saturday and let ALL teams go it at in one bracket Sunday. Just my humble opinion.
