I know the instructor is right, as its what the D1 coaches are teaching their players. I am sure others have run into this problem. How should I handle it?
How do you know its right? People get caught up in whats "right" and "whos" "wrong". None of it matters. As a tb coach, I usually make a deal with the parents in the begining. If they are seeing an instructor, I will reinforce what they are being taught as long as they enjoy success and the team benefeits. If the kid is batting 175, then I make changes where I see flaws. More often then not, its mental anyway. Hitting, pitching, fielding, its 90% mental, and the rest is in their head. Bat wrap, linear, rotational, hands, hips, tilt, tall, elbow (up or down), yada yada yada. Perfect swing, zero zero count, swings at a change up away, dribbler to the pitcher, perfect swing slowly walks back to the dug out while trying to block out everything I'm about to say.
