After seeing some of the above listed teams play on Saturday, you can definately say that Glory Shelton should be listed in the "not gold" category. How the mighty have fallen. If they are the Glory's best, they will be joining the ranks of Elite and BB as most insignificant!

I spoke prematurely, the Shelton coached Glory team came back and showed that Texas Fusion has a long way to go to be considered one of the best teams. After seeing them play today BB and Glory Shelton are on track to have good seasons.

You guys are crazy this is the fall. I doubt if anyone had their full team there this weekend. I know Texas Fusion was missing 5 players on including their top pitchers. Shelton I'm sure is in the same shoes how can anyone put any merit in what goes on in a round robin in September. I would think this is the time where coaches are coaching and seeing what cards he was dealt and experimenting with what he has and building chemistry for this summer. I didn’t see anyone out there blowing away the competition, lets wait until all the qualifiers are over and then we will see the cream rise to the top.

Fastpitch360, I would have to agree with you on this one. I believe the fall is the time and place to develop and build team chemistry. The vast majority of teams out there right now our playing with new players. Fall is the time to put your team together get them on the field against quality competition, evaluate the performances, and make adjustments.

I personally do not worry so much about winning every game in the Fall, I am more interested in getting the team developed for the Spring/Summer. I do expect my players to put forth great effort in every situations. Like you stated lets see what happens when Qualifiers roll around, the cream does rise to the top.

Has it occured to anyone that maybe the push to be "Gold" comes from the pressure of college coaches bumping up the age in the recruiting process? The pressure now starts when girls are 8th-9th grades. Sure, you can begin to prepare, but to expect 14 year olds to perform at a true gold level? (Maybe a few, but not many.) Get real! I've heard a college coach tell girls that they need to be on a gold team by their sophomore year. You think that doesn't pressure the club coaches to tack on the "gold" label of their teams?

Justafpmom makes a great point. I saw games this past weekend at Walkers Creek and Fossil Creek out in North Richland Hills and found so many teams with gold attached to the team name only to see weak non competitive teams. I saw one team get beat by 12 runs. Gold teams do not give up 12 runs to anyone. Players are at a disadvantage because the 18-A division is all but dead. Talent is very diluted, there are very few "HAVES" and far more "HAVE NOTS" when it comes to the gold talent pool in the area.

I see where you are going with that, but disagree slightly.

According to your method the Red Hots should still be considered Gold since they made "the show" with ladies that are now 27 yrs old? I don't even think they are an organization anymore.

Some of these teams have disbanded and just because they went to OKC for ONE year out of the past 12 and went 0-2, doesn't necessarily make them Gold.

It may only take 1 ace pitcher, a couple of big bats, and/or some freaky fast girls to turn that almost Gold team, to a very competitive Gold team. Case in point, note the pretty girl on the left side of the picture: http://members.tripod.com/KatyCruisers/index.html

Dumbest discussion yet. Does this mean that all the teams in 12u, 14u, 16u, etc. that don't make it to ASA "A" Nationals are not "A" teams?
