ASA Tournaments "Memorial Day Classic" Tournament 10-U

by slice » Tue May 29, 2012 6:35 pm

Wow!! What a long weekend of some pretty good softball action by the youngsters. I personally would like to give thanks & props to those who made this event go off with minimal disruption.

First off to the tournament site director Kim (I believe), you did a wonderful job in maintaining order and structure while keeping the games going on time, especially when things got crazy at times. Your poise and professionalism with how you handled situations was something to be admired and commended for. You were able to deliver a quality tournament on behalf of Gary.

The field crews did a nice job even though they might have been limited on what they could do. No big deal, at LEAST something was done.

What a great effort by the teams participating & competing this weekend in the 10’s division, good stuff out there. There was a big mix of seasoned travel teams along with the new teams forming up for the summer.

As expected though towards the end of this tournament, it was going to come down to the 4 or 5 seasoned teams for the Gold Medal!! ;) : All American Sports Academy, KG Hitters, Lady Spartans, Mizuno All American & San Jose Sting.

Congratulations to San Jose Sting girls for continuing to play hard, be aggressive & execute in clutch situations in beating All American Sports Academy. Alicia, Ms Noriega to others, you’re doing a great job with those young ladies, keep it up.

Finally to Gary, most of us know that it takes a great effort to run a tournament of this size. With so many teams and all the things to do, as well as all the people to count on, I know it can be overwhelming. However you were still able to pull it off. For the second consecutive year it was an outstanding event. Having pretty good fields, extended game times (phew!!), great awards for the kids and your ability to address conflicts and concerns (one umpire) in a timely manner, when I know you were on the fly was extremely appreciated. The best part is……YOU ALWAYS ANSWER YOUR PHONE AND RETURN CALLS!!

Thanks again for a great 10’s tournament. Looking forward to next year and future events………!!

You want Nor Cal 10U teams to drive south lets say 8 hours give or take a few, for a 1 day 3-4 game friendly??

Cranky is ok, but the invitation is plain crazy. For that kind of expense, I would think the NorCal teams would want no less than 6-8 games over a weekend.

Guess its better to wait till you go down there for a real tournament and play 3 on Saturday and are 1 and done on Sunday. It's travel ball you want to play the best teams head south. Has anyone heard of Priceline? Or carpooling? The teams moving up to 12's would really benefit from it. Sounds good U10's 3/4 games that's good and cheap with the caliber of teams
