Top North Texas teams to watch in '08

by Brooke's Dad » Thu Jan 31, 2008 2:55 pm

If a team can "play up" ie: they have the talent to make it to the 'Ship - i see no legit reason not to.... it almost seems counter productive to NOT "play up".
When asked how many times she hit Tiger with the golf club, she responded, "I'm not sure...put me down for an 8!

Food for thought. As the girls get into 16u, softball has become how to get players seen by the colleges. College coaches remember organizations that produce players. There is a huge difference from trying to make it to the ship each weekend. College showcases are about giving the players the most opportunities to be seen and be successful. 16u players and parents take up marketing 101.

Hey yellowball--DUHHH to you. He says if they have the talent..meaning if they are talented enough...which is what I said too, if you get your glasses out and read all the words together. I am saying "B" teams have no business playing up if they cannot even compete at their own age division in "A" ball. DUHHH!! lol

Your real name isn't Matt Tuggey is it?

I follow the logic in this thread (that only competive teams should play up) but I don't know that playing up is as common as the discussion would indicate. In flipping through the 14U-A tournaments in the fall I noted only a handful of 95 teams (Glory-Flanigan, Monarchs, Travelers, Elite, Batbusters-Rhine). Of those, Glory, Monarchs and Travelers at least placed in, if not won, some of the tournaments and all were playing on Sundays. Elite and Batbusters clearly struggled and were probably over their heads. They don't have track records winning at the 12U-A level since they've both played mostly B tournaments. I haven't looked a lot at 16U-A, however, but I think only 95 Glory has played up that far and they won that one. I did notice that the 14U Travelers and 14U Fusion teams placed or won in several 16U-A tournaments.

FYI...14U Batbusters(Montoya) played several 16U tournaments this past fall and won as well.

I think Dallasfungo was talking about the Batbusters-Rhine playing "B" ball. We all know that the Batbusters(Montoya) play "A" and are one of the best teams in softball with many great tournaments to come. You are a great team to watch and have some awesome athletes.
