16s FATT DADDY's ....what's going on!!

by GameTime23 » Thu Jun 21, 2012 11:43 am

Fan S-ball/Peanut Gallery… You are starting to sound like a fan of Fatt Daddy Rankings with your 2nd & 3rd post. Thank you!!!

My feelings are based on a body of work this spring/summer, not just 1 tournament or 1 team beating another. If you want feedback or for me to rank your team, step up and plead your case. Who’s your team ….No wrong or right answers.

I was not able to look at ASA metro for Sunnyvale due to errors on page, but I think Shockers lost to 2 of the top teams?

Shockers Top 8 at ASA Memorial day…5-0 pool play, beats Grapes St.D and Grapes Acuna (ranked teams) on Mon and went on to lose to smash98…Not bad for 1st tourney. ASA June classic CHAMPIONS 5-0.

Not for sure why the KG hate, but 4-1 Memorial Day and WON ASA Vacaville. Beat Storm in gold and lost to Breeze98 top 4 finisher. Beating good teams that are ranked and won a tournament. Playing anybody and every body.

If you are playing any U14’s RR Gold (Ratliff U14’s very good) tournament, it’s pretty much B-BALL. 6th and 7th place finish in metro isn’t going to effect the rankings either.

Need to win a tournament or beat good teams to crack the list.

ICMTM.....more power to you and the best of luck with what you would like to do...

I'm just sticking to what I know and what I've done the past 2 years with rankings. I get way more + feedback .......than - feedback....

If you want to throw your team out there I would be more than happy to give my feedback.

If you play usaaa or RR gold, I don't see those games or teams, SORRY!!!

I was kidding about making rankings. Although if I were to make a ranking there would be a more scientific way of doing it. I just find it 100% laughable that most of you knew nothing about the SB stars but now they are the best team in NorCal. When my kid was with Heat Hunt we tied them 3-3 in Stockton [edit...we played on in Fresno the other in Modesto], and if it weren't for a bad base running error we should have won. There used to be a black and a blue team. We played them both. I'm sure there has been some combining of the two teams and player shifting since?

Breeze 97 beat Lady Magic that weekend as well. Should they should be 1C?

My point is your rankings are solely based on how you feel in the moment. We were ranked before we even played a game in Bracky's list. We've beaten the KG Hitters and based on their body of work they should be in the discussion. I don't think we should and not asking to. In fact keep calling us the disappointing team (and throw your #3 pitchers against us). If you had a more scientific approach to your numerical value of a team you could take into consideration these good teams you're not 100% familiar with. Otherwise you're just stating your opinion (a good thing), but it isn't objective.

ICMTM....I knew about the Starz but thought they were 16's till they played u14's. Not for sure they are my top team and will move a few spots down next week.

Sorry about that 1 game too.

As a breeze98 parent said " a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes"…

I'm ok with where I have breeze97 at this time. They are very good 97 team but lost to AASA-Harrison on a sunday. Little surprised by that.

Are you with the heat or comets program? Who called you a disspointment and threw ther #3 vs you....I'M LOST ON ALL THIS!!!! Put your team out there and I LOVE to give my ranking and feedback....

I have no input on brackys list...nothing to do with Fatt Daddy!!!!

There's no need for a ranker to identify their team anymore than there is a need for every poster on this board to state which team they're from and leave their contact information. The ranking is Gametime's opinion and everyone can choose to agree with it or not.

Every team omission or misplaced team ranking isn't necessarily filled with nefarious intent. In many cases, the omissions are because a team isn't that visible or well known. The best way to become more visible is to go out there and win against top comp. People will take notice.

The difference between what Gametime has done and what a lot of posters on the bucket do is that GT has an opinion and has clearly stated it. Others on the board have opinions too, but they often only hint at theirs.

I agree that the top teams in 14u are very closely clustered this year. In fact I would not be surprised to see any of my top 7 or 8 teams lose to each other on a Sat. Where they separate themselves is in consistency. IMO Norcal 14u probably hasn't been this strong in a couple of years.

i admit, im a fan of fat daddy! keep the debate alive

no hate for KG and Shockers, theyre good teams, they just happen to be examples of where your rankings go wrong. you put too much into early non qualifier matchups from glorified friendlies. ASA memorial is nice, but is only a small sample size. if RRGold tournament is "pretty much B-BALL" then what is ASA Vacaville or the JUne Classic that KGH and Shockers won? basically nothing matters until qualifying is on the line. funny with your high regard for top 8 at asa memorial, but top 8 metros is not significant. are you saying metros is weak? can a team be considered strong if they do good in a strong tournament, and finish low in a weak tournament? i say no. cant have your cake and eat it too :D

btw i dont need you to put my team in the rankings, were already as high as we need to go. its those darn middle grounders that need work. I will nominate Kryptonite and their crazy unis for a boost in ranking! move em up!

Fansoftball is keeping it real. You make some good points.

I'll keep it real as well. All metros are not created equal and no metro has all the best Norcal teams. That's why placing high in a tournament that consists of the top teams from multiple metros (like Memorial or Fresno Classic) is more important than a top finish in a Metro tournament that may only consist of a couple of top teams or may only consist of 2 teams total.

I'm aware you have no influence on Bracky's list. Last summer we were with the Heat. Now with Comets White. Disregard the disappointment comment. Bad humor. A scientific pole distinguishes a squirrel from the wind, magic, or belly of the beast. Just trying to help as I see your list subjective in nature.

Example:

KG Hitters - I'm not going to say what kind of team they are. Lets look at what we do know. They played in a CSA tournament and won it. They played the Alameda Blaze, Fired Up, and NorCal Pride on Sunday. Of the teams in the discussion they were the only one there. So if we throw out a point system of 1pt for winning your pool, 2pts getting to Semis and 4pts for winning it they would get 7pts. However that 7 doesn't mean nearly as much as the 7 pts the Sorcerer got for winning the Memorial Day. This is where we throw in a multiplier. Since there were no top teams in the tournament I'd give that tournament a quality of .1 (if there are 2 quality teams .2...10 the tournament qualifier is a 1). So the way I see it the point value for their win out in Vacaville is a .7. Winning your pool in Memorial Day is a 1.

I am ripping this off a previous heybucket polling system and adding a twist to it. It's objective.

So if we look at the Breeze scenario where they took 2nd out in Vegas they would get 6 points for that since there were 10 quality teams (actually I'd have to look but for argument sake there were). If we look at the Lady Hustle's win in the June Classic they would get a 1.4 off the ranking and I'd give them a +1 for it being 16U so it's worth a 2.4. Norcal Shockers...a .7 for their win in the June Classic

I'd give the champion of any Silver Bracket a .5 and the 2nd place bracket winner a .25. Bigger tournaments have silver brackets. Once you add up the number of points you divide them by the number of tournaments that team plays and you have a ranking system. Seems intuitive and it gives you data. Not only does it define what being #10 is, but it's purely performanced based.

But Fatt Daddy Rankings has a nice ring to it....
