This is just going a little too far, bottom line is that there are some tough decisions that we all are going to have to make.PGF is a prestigious event and ASA nationals is still a premiere event but look at like this "what works for your daughter and team? Come on let's face not everyone is going to be on the JNT but if your DD has a strong shot then looks like you are playing ASA if not well you know the rest.

With ASA's announcement just last week, that decision for all those players on PGF teams that would have been candidates for the JNT will not be for another two years when the next Junior National Team is up for tryouts. It is too late for this year according to ASA.

Sounds like a PGF All-Star team and a cordial invite to ASA all star team to play a friendly.

Sounds to me like a bunch of grown men using teen aged girls to settle their differences. iow, just another version of the ongoing "Who is the Bigger Dick" circle jerk, with the players stuck in the middle. Classy, particularly since the outcome wouldn't settle anything.

No, that is where YOU are wrong my friend. I FULLY understand why BOTH organizations decide to do the things that they do. My point was simply that now that ASA is trying ad I repeat trying to push their weight around, be it wrong or not, it is being done to outdo or have an advantage over PGF. WhIch, the reason PGF was started was OBVIOUSLY to outdo and get an advantage over ASA by conforming to what suggestions ASA wouldn't, then push the fact that what PGF is doing is way better than ASA to draw teams. Therefore the ENTIRE thing is a joke on both parts!! Neither is right IMO!! You will not make me believe that the best interest in either organization, at the end of the day is for every child in the travel softball world. They are both buisinesses and conform their organizations around what they believe will bring the most revenue. Although I fully understand that you will once again have a sarcastic comment, just know the above is my opinion, which is what I thought this site was about, discussions about the softball world. Just know, at the end of the day I could care less what either organization does OR what you think about my opinions....

This is the type of question that would be better served by it's own new thread, maybe on the Fastpitch Discussion Board as opposed to the PGF board. Just a thought since it will likely get lost buried in this thread.

1) How was the JNT picked before? Open tryouts? Invite only?

2) Would not a JNT made of any of the top 200 players still be dominate?


3) Would not any of the top 25 TB teams have a chance to beat any JNT team(no matter how it was constituted)? - figuring a team that has played together should be better that a newly put together all-star team


4) Has any thought been given to rewarding the championship team<insert championship> with JNT status(and sponsorship) and have them represent the US? It would make championship play that much more exciting.....

If you can't beat them , join them..........pgf and asa are about the money. California/PGF needs to take the right cross to the eye and move on. ASA can do what they want and PGF can for sure do what ever they want. If you dont like the new rule then shut up and go play in a ASA qualifier. Atleast ASA has the standards and rules out for everyone to see. PGF seems to make them up as they go along.

Sorry, Jon, but some of your questions don't make sense.
1) Has to be invite-only. Can you imagine how many non-qualified players would show up if it was open?
2) Don't understand the question. Would they be dominant? Not as dominant as picking a team from the top 50 players. Don't get what you mean.
3) Question doesn't make sense. How could you tell if a top TB team could beat a JNT team, if their best players are ON the JNT team. Are you saying you would intentionally choose a JNT team that doesn't have the best players from the best teams?
4) Why would you reward one specific team from one specific area? Makes no sense. A JNT team should consist of the best players nation-wide. So I certainly hope that no thought has been given to this suggestion.

In general, it sounds like you're saying team chemistry would get you farther than an All-Star group of better overall players. We'll have to agree to disagree on that.
