We could - Sorcerers needs to get Jolene Henderson and Keilani Ricketts (who IMO are ALOT stronger pitchers) and there you have it. BUT...Again I don't think you remember or watched nationals two years aho when Kat lawerence went the distance for Sting and everyone thought because they did not have Val go they were screwed and kat is not a power house by any means and look how good they did and last year Sting had the power house on the mound as did Sorcerers and look what happened??

Response: I most certainly remember that run Sting had at nationals, not to put down what they did because they played some great ball that is for sure but their draw was a whole hell of lot easier than this past years draw. But your point is well taken, you can do well at nationals with adequate pitching, I totally agree with you, but without that shut down pitcher it gets incredibly hard to be playing on Sunday in Oklahoma. And I most certainly do not agree with you that Henderson or Ricketts is just flat "better", J.Moore has some of the nastiest movement out there and is legit 65+ . And if I'm not mistaken pitched every game at Nationals last year for Sorcerer and held them in all of them, losing to Hotshots 1-0 on a error and then losing to the Athletics on like 7 errors. Now I like Ricketts she can flat get it done, the jury is out on Henderson, her ball is a little flat for my taste.

And I defintiely don't agree with your theory how a pitcher looks in fall doesn't matter. That is a horrible excuse. A pitcher going to a Pac 10 school should always set foot on that mound to dominate because she has a long way to go if she wants starting position in college! I watched Ricketts last weekend and she certainly was not getting hit hard or wild. In fact I saw quite a few pitchers at twin creeks that looked impressive (Magic, Desert thunder, team from Texas etc..).

Response: Fall doesnt matter, there is no fall nationals, there is no November championship. Bottomline, J. Moore brought it at the qualifier, and at Nationals, she was on her game when it counted, that is all I can tell you.

Three Observations....
1) Offensively - Sorcerer has a lot of speed and should be able to generate enough runs so they don't absolutely have to have a shut down pitcher to qualify for Gold Nationals.

Response: I can agree with the fact that they will generate some runs, but if you give up more than you can score I believe you lose, not to be a smarty pants or anything.

2) Defensively - Sorcerer can almost field a starting team of all Pac 10 scholarship athletes, so the opponent should have to work hard to get their runs.

Response: Is this the same PAC 10 defense that made a crucial error to lose to the hotshots on a routine grounder? Is this the same defense that turned around after the Firecracker win and made like 7 errors on routine plays agiasnt the Athletics? Just because these kids have scholarships to where ever dont mean squat. I have seen that team play defense, and it is their weakness, not their strength.

2) Phil will be beating the bushes to upgrade his pitching from now until 5 seconds before the first pitch at Gold Nationals. He has done it every year and this year will be no different.

Response: Now this we agree on, and you want to know why? Because Mumma has been doing this for a while now and he knows just as I and everyone else knows he needs that force on the hill if he is going to be around on the weekend in Oklahoma. Now I hope that the two young ladies he has step up and develop into that type of pitcher, but if they dont he will absolutely need to find one or they will be going home earlier hence a lucky draw in Oklahoma.

Hey maybe if neither magic nor sting make it to oklahoma sorcerers will have a chance at getting that last piece to the puzzle. Nevertheless it wouldnt be the same as if they had that piece the whole summer because then it turns into IF they make it to nationals and how well the pickup player will do in the one week they are with a foreign team. IMHO, I believe they will have a shot at qualifying with medieros. Ive never been disgruntled in all performances ive seen of her
Sting will need LOTS of help this summer trying to qualify, watched them at surf city against firecrackers...OUCH whats going on there? The pitching is there not so much defense. Offense wins games Defense(wins championships)...gets you to nationals
Grapettes look better then Sting collectively to me...they have a great shot.
Magic ya their good itll be a challenge with so many youngsters and little experience at gold qualifiers but they got a big shot.plus those college girls if coming back will help a ton

Not sure what you mean by this but those errors I was speaking of did not occur in the fall, they occured in Oklahoma last summer and was the core reason for their two losses at Nationals.

Response: Phil has had his hands on some of the best in NorCal already and they have slipped through his fingers.

Now this is very true, the Sorcerer have had nearly every top pitcher in Nor Cal at one time or another over the past 4 to 5 years but they never hold on to them, they always leave.

I just hope that one of our Nor Cal Gold clubs find a way to put it together and represent this summer in Oklahoma, it would be nice to be sticking around to watch one of our clubs play for something on Sunday.
