Snack Bar Food

What's on your mind?

by teammom » Wed Nov 12, 2008 5:11 pm

So after that long set of posts about Friendly etiquette - We always have debates about what we should sell at the snack bar and have had varying results with items dependent upon the weather.
Curious what others would like to see offered at a snackbar that isn't usually on the menu and what you think should be taken off the standard menu :?:

My kids always loved to see a Chicken Caesar Salad and Teriyaki Chicken Bowls. Tamales are good, especially topped with chili and shredded cheese and onions.

My kids really like the teriaki bowls too! Salads with dressing packs and packs of fruit are great too!

Tri tip sandwiches and meatball subs with cheese -- Carne Asada tacos with rice/beans/cheese as long as the pricing is reasonable... Charging $3.00 for one measly taco isn't good - $5.00 for a plate with two tacos, rice and beans is fair... Hot chocolate and coffee for winter months and cold mornings, fruit bowls or fruit packs are smart and always cup o noodles. Teriaki bowls are good, like the salad idea.... Hot dogs & burgers are a must, nachos with cheese and chili/cheese, chili billies are good (fritos with chili/cheese on top in a bowl) and should always have some bags of chips and basic candy available as well.

Breakfast burritos as long as you offer with and without chorizo, better with potatos, please more people and sell them all... Lots of people are bringing their food or leaving for fast food UNLESS the food is good and reasonably priced. It's understood that the snack bar is a fundraiser; however, if no one is buying because of taste/price, then how much are you really making?

Minors Gold 95 has the best snack bar and always a very big successful. Tri tip that has been marinade for days. The best Carne Asada north of Mexico. Fruit salads, chicken bowls, home made soup( a must on cold days), pasta salad, chili etc.

Around here we have this thing called a "walking taco." Open a snack size bag of Fritos, dump taco meat, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese and sour cream on top. Eat with a fork right out of the bag. Get one early - they always sell out.

Sliced apples, carmel dip
Carrots, ranch dip
Big soft pretzels, cheese
Nachos
Ham sandwiches
Turkey sandwiches
Hot dogs
Polish sausages
Big pickles
Pork BBQ
Popcorn

Sometimes ice cream sandwiches and choco tacos.

We've done a lot of different things over the years, taco in a bag, grilled chicken, hamburgers, etc. But we run into problems with our local health department everything has to be approved.

Sometimes people forget that we are not a restaurant. It is a concession stand. . .

Man, you guys in California know how to eat. We are lucky if we get more than lukewarm pizza slices and dirty water dogs. The best snack bar around for us is if someone calls in a Good Humor truck.
