12U Teams

by Warda3 » Tue Nov 25, 2008 3:17 pm

Smackdaddy

A couple questions on your thought process:

1. Why did you move the Bandits up? You had them at 5 now they are in top 3 after this weekend. There were no top teams in SL and they split with a lower ranked team.

2. Why are you penalizing the Kaos for using pick ups? Every team uses them. They just happen to use them from other teams within their organization. It's not like they have their pick ups playing key positions or batting in the middle or top of the order.

3. To my knowledge the Peppers have not won a tournament all fall, but you continue to rank them at the top. I'm curious as to your reasoning. Their two new girls will not make them any better than they already were so I need more than that. The four 12U tournaments that I know they played in, they have finished second twice, fourth and fifth. Call me crazy, but I would think that the best team in 12U in Houston would have won at least one of the tournaments they have entered.

4. You gave the Power the same grade as the Aces and Riptide? Who have they beaten this fall to deserve to be in that class?

I'm not saying your rankings aren't valid, I'm just curious if I am missing something here and want to understand your thought process. You've had some very valid points and seem to be up on things for the most part in 12U (definitely better than your 16U predictions for the SL tourney this past weekend) so I just want a little clarification if possible.

1. Thunder
2. Bandits
3. Kaos
4. Peppers
5. Red Hots

6-10 Aces, Riptide, Fury, Power, Cy Fair Shock

Have to agree with the queen except I would put the Red Hots ahead of the Peppers based on last weeks performance.

Not sure if they have even played Bandits

It would be nice to see the Thunder and Bandits square off.

Here's how we have faired against the top four. We have lost a game against Thunder, 2 against the Aces, and a pool game against the Kaos. And won a game against the Peppers.

These are not excuses just the facts. Our pitching was terrible against the Big four (it's part of the game I know) but 6 to 7 walks during those games won't get you very many W's. And the bats have been pretty quiet the whole fall season as well. Defense is getting better every week. And as for the speed...well...it is what it is.

Then we finally put it together throughout a tournament then you want to say well we had an easy draw. Well...we might have, but you still have to win on Sunday. I think that beating a 95' team twice that was around the top 20 at Nationals (I believe) is a pretty sweet victory.

So I guess the Christmas Classic will determine who will be #1 for now. ;)

Good luck to all and we'll see ya on the diamond!

You must have missed out on it Superwinx2. Bandits96 says Bandits lost to Thunder already. I saw where Bandits, Peppers, Thunder, Kaos, Redhots and many others are all in the Katy Classic so that should be a good tourney watch and see how everybody does.
What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.

Yea missed that....That must have been early on.
I think now most teams should be firing on all cylinders (or losing people). The Katy Classic should be a good barometer as to where these girls are now

play nice warda, you and superwinx tried calling one another out and that led to a boring week in the bucket. Lets just stay focused on opinions and not try and figure out whose who, deal?

Your points are valid and may have swayed me a bit but lets see if I can address your thoughts.

Bandits moved up because they WON 2 TOURNAMENTS in a row. 1-14u and 1-12u. 96 Kaos (and some 95s) were in it and they did not do so well. I realize the Bandits had a good draw, but come on, they won the dang tournament and their were a couple pretty solid 95 teams in. I was disappointed however to see them win a 14u tournament and then drop back down to 12's the very next weekend when the Aces and Thunder were playing 14's. I don't have to spell it out because we all know there is only 1 excuse for it, so for now it will be on record and the Bandits will be closely watched and quickly scrutinized.

96 Kaos is the only team I know that is picking up girls every week. They have a great core of talent and a great coach, but what happens in June when he can't be at 3 places on the same weekend and the players can only be on 1 roster. I don't know of the Peppers, Aces or Thunder having pick ups at all this season. Bandits picked up 1 girl for 1 game, the first game of the bracket, in a game every team on this list is going to win.

With the Peppers you have me there. Their last Championship dates back to early May. My resoning they have 4- 2nd place finishes including RM and a 4th before that. I expect their new SS will provide a lot more depth and make them a stronger team but the 4th pitcher is not making them any better and may eventually cause some havoc. But lets face it, bringing home brass in 4 tournaments in a row is not bad and I am not sure if anyone else can say they have done that this Fall.

Power is living on reputation. The reputation that they play all their player equal amounts of time and pitch their pitchers equal amounts of time. They are not running their #1 or even their #2 out there every game like most teams, they have a rotation and they stick with it. They are developing a team, they have some talent, and they will win some games against other top 10 teams when they get ready to.

My 16U predictions were a little off, Congrats to the 95 Kaos for getting there and thanks for taking out everybodies wart (Jets)

and a quick address to Superwinx, don't go using that line that it was early in the Season. It was early in the season for everybody, and everybody got better as the season progressed. I am sure you and the Thunder would be a great game and a lot of people would love to see it, me included, but the Bandits are 0 and 1 against the Thunder and 0 and 2 against the Aces and thats it. It is what it is. I would like to see all 3 (Thunder, Peppers and Bandits) battle with each other.

I don't get it? I thought Jets were a 2nd year 14U team?

The Jets are second year 14 and came it 3rd.
14u Kaos came in 2nd.
14u Power came in 1st.

there were a few pretty tough 16u teams that did not make far, alot of them matched up with one another early and eliminated themselves.

Just thought I would correct you about 16u teams knocking each other out. NOT TRUE

Jet beat the 16u power

Kaos beat the 16u Impact

14u Power beat the 16u Texas Velocity,Showstoppers and knocked out the 16u Power
