This argument is stated every year, and every year the answer is the same. If a team plays or intends to play championship play at 14U, then they are a 14U team. If a team plays or intends to play championship play at 16U, then they are a 16U team. It doesn't matter what they do, where they play, or how they prepare for the future. The age of the players on the roster is not relevant except in the case that they are too old to be eligible for a particular age group. Calling your group of 7th graders a 16U team because you play local VTD events labeled at 16U doesn't make you a 16U team for the scope of this conversation.

It won't be irrelevant at Hall of Fame. It won't be irrelevant at PGF/ASA qualifying tournaments. It won't be irrelevant at nationals.

Any Showcases going on before May or June and all but a handful between then and the fall however, are irrelevant.

I don't necessarily agree with that statement. I agree with the Cali based Firecrackers, but the Texas based. Seen both, difference like night and day.....

Agree. The Firecracker Org in Texas is made up of mostly mediocre teams. None can compete or even qualify for a ASA or PGF Nationals. Maybe VTD or something.

?? Houston teams of 18U played in ASA gold nationals last summer, 16U won the fall Texas Challenge Series qualifying for 2013 nationals, 14U takes 3rd in the Challenge Series, how ignorant can you be? Glory took 1st in 14U, maybe they will struggle too.....

Houston Area

18-U- Fl. rain out. berth by default. Two and out at ASA ?

16-U did win the Challenge series... Tell me how many of the Sophmores, Juniors will have to move up to 18-u in the summer? (there were good in the fall) Impact didnt play and Sudden Impact dropped. Peppers were 2nd. but as stated before..... no berth for 2nd.

14-U It's 3rd. No berth for 3rd. good effort. We will see @ HOF Q and HOF?

Point was made that none can compete or qualify for ASA or Premier, I think that has been refuted based on history, but looks like the org seems to be the org to hate these days. If they can't be competitive then they will melt away. But I do agree Tx and Cali are much different in talent, but that is true with Cali and about everyone else.

why? ugly has the rite to his own opinion. he doesnt know what he is talking about though. firecrackers-dfw finished top ten at nationals 2 years ago and qualified for pgf last year. firecrackers may qualified for gold last year.
