Hey there,
A friend of mine that lives in Cathedral City just sent me a text with the following info. Its good to know this ahead of time so you have a plan. I am asking a few questions for more details. For now, here is what I have:

CONSTRUCTION Notice: posted 2-17
Sign over the DATE PALM Overpass says:
Date Palm will be Closed from 7PM-4AM Feb 19-22

if you are entering Cat City at those late hours then exit at Gene Autry Trail from I-10 & go south all the way to Dinah Shore Parkway, turn left (east) & go to Date Palm Dr. (Big League Dreams). It may even be faster - less traffic signals.

So it looks like DD, wife and I will be heading up on Sat afternoon.

Although we have been to Cat City Field of dreams many times I have no idea what to expect this weekend since this will be our first time at the Mary Nutter Classic.

So I have a few advice questions:

- What is seating like? Should I expect to be on the hills down one of the lines in a chair I bring?

- I'm assuming we can roam from game to game as we want, is that correct?

- How far of a walk should I expect after I park? I'm betting I won't get parking near the facility.

Any other words of advice from those that have been there before would also be greatly appreciated.

The big games are packed, bring chairs or blanket or get to the games early to get yourself a seat.


I get there way before first game starts so I am in the lot. If you have to park at the school 100 or 200 yard walk. Drop off wifey and DD in front with all your chit.

Once your inside you are free to go to all the games and even go to the restaurant for an adult soda if you want.

Tri tip out side is great but its about $10

Lots of vendors, great vibe in the air

Are your kids going? I'm trying to get mine to skip school Friday, otherwise we won't get up there until Friday evening.

they have games saturday so no they arent going, i'm leaving early thursday morning
