Your conduct is not defensible. Your team was a "first year" 16U team playing in the 14U division. The sad part is, your team didn't win the 14U division and didn't even place. Such conduct may be okay in San Antonio, but it is frowned upon in Houston.

Good luck, if you come back next year. At least you will be in the proper age division.

EVERYONE plays up in the Fall if they are playing a higher age division the following season (January). The reason is simple. Team that will be first year 14's in 2009 play in the 14u division because 1. That is where the teams they will play against in 2009 will be and 2. They get a chance to play against the teams that will be 2nd year 14's in 2009, possibly ones they have never played against in the past. That's the idea along with of course the thought of playing "better" teams. This is not always the case of course but this year in the 14u division it certainly was.

OK, As you can see my 1st comment on this blog. It turns out the team (the Corp) quality wise should have been in the 14U Division. They were good competition for that age group. We were playing up in the 16U because that is what our girls prefer to do. They love to play teams that are better than them. You ask any one of if they like playing a team they know they can beat 10-0. The answer would be "NO" unanomously (if there is a coach that has been an A$$ in the past, kids that are poor sports, or dirty players all bets are off) . Then you get what you get. They prefer to play teams that on any given day can beat them or are picked to beat them. They don't like to lose, but do, and when they do they know that they need to adjust how they play or play with more focus to to beat the team they were beaten by. If they accomplish that then they get an obvious rush out of it. As coaches, we all have different levels of skilled players and the coaches usually know that level. I think the Corp was being evaluated on their talent from last year which from my memory was a bunch of big boppers with pretty good pitching. Didn't pay much attention to them this weekend so don't know much about there play. Obviously it was not dominent.

As a competitive 14U team you should be able to hold you own against any 14U or 16U team and I know the top 3 teams in this tournament can do that. It finished pretty close to the way I expected but with a few surprises but that is why we play the game.
